They played an afternoon game in Miami. Game 5 loss right before it came back to Chicago I think.

ah you're correct. i guess i was alluding to mid-week afternoon games, having game 3 at 230 is going to blow chunks.

Out of curiosity, can we get the link to the TBS site showing the times? The only thing I can find with a schedule doesn't even show the game 7 time tonight, let alone anything for the next series.

http://www.tbs.com/schedule/index.html

this is the only thing I can see. The Sat/Sun games are 8 eastern, the Tue game is 3:30 eastern while Wed/Thur are 8pm Eastern.

I'm not getting where all the hand wringing is coming from. It's a 7 game series and only one game is currently listed in the middle of a weekday.

I'm not sure if there is anything to read into the fact that there is no current timeslot reserved for a potential game 7 on Sunday night.

They'll play that at 8:30 AM because MLB is a bunch of cowards terrified of the goons at the NFL.

You gotta start that game at 7:30 eastern. Right at the end of the afternoon NFL games and before Pat/Colts starts up. You should be near the 9th innings by halftime.

And what, just don't air THE OT? How will I know who got JACKED UP?

Maybe they could push the MLB game to FXX

Yeah in 2003 IIRC they had 1-2 games where the NLCS and ALCS were played at the same time

Fox had all the LCS rights at the time. I know in 2004 the NLCS was basically exiled entirely to FX, which at the time not that many people got. Not sure what happened in 2003.

Of all the days for the NLCS to be in the afternoon, Tuesday would be the crappiest from a purely selfish perspective as I have to work late that night and would have to go radio silent for like 8 straight hours before I got to watch.

Jay Jaffe with an interesting analysis on who the Cubs should root for tonight. If you don't want to read it, his opinion is that the Cubs would be better off facing the Dodgers.

http://www.si.com/mlb/2015/10/14/chicago-cubs-nlcs-opponent-los-angeles-dodgers-new-york-mets

This is a good article. I was firmly in the "we should want the Mets" camp previously. I'm less sure now.

I'm in the face the Dodgers camp. If they face the lefties, maybe they put Baez at 3b and Bryant in OF.

Offensively, the Mets are much better.

Good lord, what an embarrassing TV schedule.

what is embarrassing?

A semifinal game being broadcast at 2:30 during the week? Not sure about you, but I think that kind of sucks. There's nothing wrong with two games overlapping, no?

It's not a semifinal game. It's game 3 of a 7 game series. It's not game 1 and it's not a potential clincher. There is nothing embarrassing about it. There's a lot wrong with overlapping telecasts.

Even though the hours suck, advertising is greater for two separate game times than both at the same time. No point in dividing the casual fan in half.

Does the potential frigid NY temps change who you want to face next series?

Good question. Cold weather usually hurts the offense, which sucks because we'd have our 2 best pitchers going anyways (and 2 of their best pitchers).

I think that plus the no Greinke until game 3 and Kershaw likely on 3 days rest again in game 1 pushes my preferences slightly towards wanting to play the Dodgers.

Also #RoadBryant went 2-7 with 3K and 2BB at Citifeld this year and 2-12 with 8K and a 2 run HR at dodger stadium. Means pretty much nothing I know

Yeah 1 game out of 7 in the afternoon is a lot better than I expected. Sucks its on Tuesday but as was said earlier it's game 3, not a clincher or an opening game.

Personally, I would rather the Cubs play the Mets. I realize they have a more potent lineup, but I feel they have a better chance against righty pitching than lefties.

Any preference between Kansas City and Toronto?

I prefer that the Royals win.

I can't think that far ahead. I just know I do not want to face Kershaw. I'd rather bank on the Mets arms getting tired. But am conflicted because the Dodgers 3/4's are more meh than the Mets 3/4. That's where the Cubs won this Cards series because they had no confidence to go deep in their rotation. The Mets do.

Theo confirms that they're leaning Lester so that he doesn't get too much rest, but nothing is finalized yet.
