Per Twitter games 1 and 2 will start at 7:07 CT

That's surprising considering it'd be a 5:07 local start if LA wins.

if it in LA, Ill be there. Just got my tickets off stubhub.

I thought about it, but Dodger Stadium is terrifying.

Mostly the parking lot.

I was there in 2008. It was really, really, bad. Heard a ton of smack from an unbelievably large amount of people. The one thing that kept me cool the whole time is remembering how they are all fake fans and didn't know anyone on the team outside of Manny.

If the Cubs play the Dodgers I am definitely going there, because my boys will help me get retribution in the form of dongmageddon.

If you have Haren go, you pitch him on the road in game 2. If he pitches in conditions like Monday, they'll be down 6 after one. Give him Citi Field on a chilly night, he has a chance.

Im for Arrieta in game 1 like previously mentioned.

Hmm...Lester in Game 1? How would that affect the rotation in the WS if the NLCS goes at least 6? Selfishly I want Arrieta to start Game 5 as I have tickets to that one.

Scheduled days are 17th, 18th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 24th and 25th. Lester in Game 5 would be regular rest. Arrieta goes in Game 2, he gets an extra day now and then after he pitches Saturday (if it goes to 6). Honestly, I'd rather Arrieta go Game 1 or save him to Game 3. If he goes game 1, he can go 5, and then be a real option for major innings in Game 7. If he goes 2, he goes Game 6 and is not available for 7. If he goes in Game 3, he still gets the same 2 starts as if he goes Game 2, but he can either be saved for 7 (if the Cubs are up 3-2) or he can still go in Game 6 on short rest if down 3-2. Plus, Game 3 is the most pivotal game IMO.

But this post is going to look very stupid and pointless when the Cubs win in 4.

I was marking up my wall calendar in the office with the potential scenarios. My thinking is that they have Lester go game 1 partly to keep him from too much rest, but also so that he could pitch game 4 & 7 on 3 days' rest if needed. I don't think they want Jake doing that given his increase in innings from last year.

G1 Lester

G2 Arrieta

G3 Hendricks

G4 Lester

G5 Hammel? (or Jake on 3 days' rest)

G6 Arrieta

G7 Lester

Or you just line them up, but I don't know about that

G1 Lester

G2 Arrieta

G3 Hendricks

G4 Hammel

G5 Lester

G6 Arrieta

G7 Hendricks

If the TBS website is right, the Monday game at Wrigley is at 2:30CST, Wed and Thurs at 7pm CST,

I mistyped...I meant Tuesday.

WTF?! A 2:30pm Tuesday game in the NLCS?! That's [expletive] horseshit, if true. They would really put Toronto-KC in primetime over the Cubs-Mets/Dodgers? That would be insanity.

Or someone at MLB must really like me. (that's 9:30pm for me)

The games are on two different networks, Fox and TBS. Fox must get priority for primetime that night and it has nothing to do with markets involved.

Is there really a viewership benefit to having a day and night game? Is there really more people that would and will be able to watch both games as opposed to putting them both at night either head to head or partially head to head?

I would have to imagine the ratings for a Cubs game at 7pm against Royals/Jays would be higher than Cubs game at 2:30. Conversely Royals/Jays game at 7pm against Cubs game is probably higher rated than Royals/Jays game at 2:30.

I guess the rights were probably sold with the understanding their would be no head to heads but it's just dumb.

i wouldn't be shocked if they get more overall viewers by having the games on at two different times

that said, [expletive] this schedule

Yes. absolutely there is a greater opportunity for more eyes at two games airing at separate times than simultaneously. And the networks absolutely want exclusive rights to any baseball being aired at that time slot.

Even if prime time head to head brought in more total viewers. The advertisers would never allow the viewer the option of flipping to the other game during the commercial. With them running back to back, they know they have exclusivity on baseball in that timeslot.

This TV schedule is pissing me the [expletive] off. Had to DVR Monday and Tuesday and turn off my phone and avoid the internet/social media at work.

Now I'm going to have to do it again in the NLCS?

Out of curiosity, can we get the link to the TBS site showing the times? The only thing I can find with a schedule doesn't even show the game 7 time tonight, let alone anything for the next series.

this is the only thing I can see. The Sat/Sun games are 8 eastern, the Tue game is 3:30 eastern while Wed/Thur are 8pm Eastern.

I'm not getting where all the hand wringing is coming from. It's a 7 game series and only one game is currently listed in the middle of a weekday.

I'm not sure if there is anything to read into the fact that there is no current timeslot reserved for a potential game 7 on Sunday night.
