Maybe I'm dumb but I can't wrap my head around the decision to start Lester over Arrieta. I guess the only thing is that Maddon thinks Jake is gassed and could benefit from an extra day of rest and is concerned enough that he'd rather Jon be in line to start G1-4-7 rather than Jake. Otherwise I'm not sure why you wouldn't maximize the opportunities to start a pitcher on a historically dominating run until his most recent start.

The series starts on Saturday and concludes the next Sunday. I can't imagine anyone getting three starts in nine days.

They openly explained it. Lester last pitched last Friday. They don't want him over rested. Combine than with the fact that Arrieta has looked a little off (they didn't say this part) and could use the extra day, and the fact that they could both still have the chance to start the same number of games and it makes plenty of sense.

Lester's already been off longer; probably not a good idea to extend that beyond a little extra rest. This way they both get that but don't get too far out of their routine.

Oh I didn't even read the part where he had the game one starter going three times

I have tickets to Game 1 if the Dodgers win. Flying to NYC for a wedding Tuesday so the early game stuff better be BS.

Who is everyone rooting for?

Cubs, I hope.

I'm a little afraid Kershaw would.

Is the series more compact than previous years? I can swear pitchers have started 3 times in a 7 game series. Perhaps they pitched on shorter rest the second and third times.

That would be 5 starts in 17 days. I mean maybe they ask him to do it, but I can't imagine by Game 4 or especially Game 7 that he'd really be Kershaw anymore.

I just want to a) never face Greinke or Kershaw and b) want game starts to be when I can actually watch

The Mets guys are damn good too and they have more of them.

Maybe we can petition to have the Brewers replace the Dodgers/Mets winner in the NLCS.

The Dodgers only have one righty robbing us of Schwarber for 5 out of 7 games.

i'll be there too Raisin if the Dodgers win. Where is the best after hours place near there? we've been looking up a bunch of dive bars.

apologize for not remembering who posted this, but someone said if the Dodgers win tonight

Lester vs Anderson

Arrieta vs Kershaw

Hendricks vs Greinke

whereas if the Mets win its

Lester vs Syndergaard

Arrieta vs Harvey

Hendricks vs deGrom

Lester is already at 7 days off as Sammy Sofa said, and it lines up Jake for both teams top gun as well essentially turning the game into a coin flip. Holy crap I'm equally scared and excited at both of those match-ups.

one other thing I've been thinking about. Jake's past his previous innings total by... A LOT. I wonder if that has anything to do with it as well.

And our not-yet dongeriffic lineup swept them during the season. I'll take young hitters vs young pitchers in this instance over young hitters vs multi-CY winners

If you think this Mets team at this point is anything like that one, you aren't paying attention.

That said, I'm still rooting for the Mets for the reason ssr stated

I get that they didn't have Cespedes etc., but I'm still more confident teeing off on the greener pitchers

that's ultimately where i am too i think
