How are they even mad about this post?

Cubs will have the better starting pitcher by WAR and xFIP in 5 of the 7 games.

That's not trash talk. That's just an objective fact (assuming it's true, which I'll trust bukie on since I am way too lazy to look it up myself and it's entirely believable).

or this one

No Greinke, no Kershaw, and fewer Lefties is A-OK with me.

Seriously METropolis guy? That's what you pick out?

"we are a different team now"

yeah, they are.

so are we. and we didn't beat up on the NL east to get to that point.

this is all so stupid anyway. it's the [expletive] playoffs. it's 7 games. nobody should be confident about anything.

It's one thing for Cubs fans to be overconfident...at least they'd have reasons (even though nobody should be overconfident in the playoffs because baseball)

What the hell is the team that did 7 games worse against a significantly worse schedule basing their hubris on?

Here's my best trash talk since I know they're watching.

yo mets fans!! Cubs might beat Mets over the next 4/7 games, but the Mets also might beat the Cubs 4/7 because BASEBALL.

Mets fans think they are better than they really are, Cubs fans think they are better than they really are because INTERNET.

but really Cubs are probably better than we think they are :flythew:

Do you wanna know how douchey Mets fan are?

I was at the Victor Diaz game where Dusty did everything he could to screw up the bullpen. This one douchebro was yelling, at the Mets, the entire game. He was disgusted by Piazza in particular and just relentlessly went after him and all the rest the entire game. This was relatively close the Mets dugout and late in a completely lost Mets season so it was quiet and the team definitely heard. Most of the Mets fan in the area were disgusted by this guy. They hated him. They were just there to spend a nice little September Saturday at the park. Well, 9th inning comes around and douchebro is still giving it to the Mets and everybody still hates him and then Diaz hits the homerun and douchebro turns on a dime to celebrate and all these fans that hated this guy suddenly turned into douchebro and had the time of their lives with him.

Yankees fans are arrogant pricks who have mostly accomplished nothing in their own lives and they tend to live beyond their means to keep up appearances of being successful. Mets fans on the other hand just want to be able to act like Yankees fan. They aspire to live beyond their means and gloat about how great their lives are going but deep down they know they have none of the confidence needed to pull it off.

Are you going to try to go this weekend?

Lol. We just annihilated the best team in baseball but we shouldn't have confidence because of 107 years of irrelevant history?

You know what they say, insecurity is loud.

the best team in baseball beat the cardinals (who were pretty beat up) in 3/4 games. nobody annihilated anyone.

but that doesn't actually mean anything going forward because this is the playoffs

Yeah, there's lot's of talk about how different the Mets are (and they are), but the Cubs are a much better team now as well. There was no Schwarber, Fowler and Castro hadn't hit well all season, and Arrieta had yet to go full Arrieta. Our offense is generally much better, owing to the growth of the kids.

The Cubs were better post-ASB, better post trade deadline, and did it in a tougher division.

That's not to take anything away from the Mets very real improvement, but it's not as if they gained a lot on the Cubs.

Regardless, this should be a good series.

More of the "they haven't won since 1908, how they they show confidence in ANYTHING?!?!"

Like we are supposed to sit here in silence and continually dread over Mordecai Brown choking in some early 1900's World Series game or some [expletive] when none of us were remotely close to being born. Or like the current team has even a single player left over from any relevant team in our lifetime; like we are supposed to judge random dudes over history exactly the same because they wear a piece of cloth with the same colors. Hate that garbage /rant.
