That matters why? The fact still remains...definitively stating Price would be a 3 month rental to the Dodgers is false. If you can claim otherwise, let's hear it. :)

this is impossibly dense; the hypothetical with Price added would make it a virtual certainty, and even still, i'll eat a lemon if they miss the playoffs

Dense? You have no clue whether the Dodgers (currently .5 game ahead of the Giants) make the postseason, and neither do I. What we DO know is that it is a 2 month rental until proven otherwise. Price could break his neck and your point is moot. I'll gladly give you something else to eat if they don't though.

You know what IS dense? Arguing that it is a FACT that the Dodgers would make the postseason, when the only fact right now is it would be a 2 month rental.

They made their shortstop cry for nothing.

Man, I'm just now seeing that this was for real. Dude really was crying. That's sad. As we say in the South, "bless his heart."

The Jays do have a lot of resources, but I think there's little chance that he doesn't test the open market.

Canadian dollar is 77 cents now, so if he asks for $30M/per, they'll have to go $39M/per, won't they?

(i'm probably in the minority when it comes to my lack of total utter desperation for adding a #1 SP, it's just kind of funny to consider)

I'm confused. His contract will be in USD, so he'll have more buying power by being in Canada 81 days a year.

why would his contract be in USD if he's employed by a Canadian company?

that's how north american sports work.

players are paid in greenbacks.

When oil is cheap, Canadian teams struggle, when it's expensive, they profit.

MLB employees are technically employees of the MLB and all are paid in USD. Taxes are tricky though and have separate taxes for where the games are played.

That's just how North American sports leagues work. NHL, NBA and MLB teams all pay their players in U.S. dollars regardless of location. It's in all three CBAs.

I don't think this is true. I think Canadian team players are paid in snow and uncomfortably long smiles.

Would be mildly funny to watch the reactions of Cubs fans if we did nothing and the Sox traded for Upton and/or Cespedes. Or at least would slightly lessen the disappointment of standing pat.

The White Sox trading for a rental corner OF is one of the more depressing ideas I've heard, at least for anyone who wishes success for the White Sox.

Even funnier if they get into the WC game and we don't.

Edit: If you assume the two fangraphs odds are independent, there's a 9% chance that happens.

[expletive], didn't realize that the White Sox were only 2.5 games out for a WC. Granted, they have 4 teams ahead of them, including the Blue Jays who just stacked themselves. But they're just crazy enough to give up Fulmer for a few months of hope and an extra game.

Riensdorf is crazy and he prolly told Kenny Williams and Hahn to "GO FOR IT" while Kenny says "Yes Boss" and Hahn mumbles "[expletive]" under his breath
