[expletive] this team. I hope they miss the playoffs. They [expletive] deserve it.

I don't think you have to hope.

I mean it in a cathartic way. Like, "You fucked up too much, and you don't deserve nice things." Seriously, batters succeed less than half the time and yet we allowed four runs to score without making an out. Don't make shitty pitches and everything will be fine. Jesus Christ.

Goodness, I'm more bitter than usual tonight.

Yes, you can blame Maddon. The writing has been on the wall regarding Motte since basically as soon as he arrived in his peripherals. And there was never a reason to sign Soriano let alone give him a big spot. Meanwhile Grimm languishes in low leverage early inning spots. It's Dustyish managing.

I don't want to hear about upcoming opponents W% or "easy stretches of games" ever again. It's [expletive] baseball, on an incredibly favored night u might be favored like 55% to 45% at most (and that's probably overstating it). Edited by Cubswin11

Pulling Schwarber for Ross with a 3 run lead was not a bad move whatsoever. When you're leading, defense is more important than offense. I will hate when hate is due, but that wasn't a bad move.

Well to be honest our record is sort of bolstered by unsustainably flukey one-run wins anyway so this [expletive] is just evening everything out.

If not for a couple of horseshit wins in Cincinnati we would be 3-11 in this stretch. Three and [expletive] eleven.

I get not wanting to put the go ahead run on but you are facing the hottest hitter in baseball who has crushed you tonight already. Plus walking him sets up a possible double play

I agree - I don't know how you pitch to him there. I flipped away assuming the walk was coming.

We're going to pull it out. Signature win this year.

The cubs do jackshit in the clutch. Don't expect anything. This team has absolved itself of any hope for the rest of the season. They had a chance to go to 9 games above .500 and they've performed like steamy garbage ever since. It's inexcusable.

I don't understand if Maddon is supposed to be this smart manager he doesn't see the advanced stats that suggest that he's due to suck. I don't necessarily care if the best reliever is a closer, I mean we've made the playoffs with Borowski and Dempster as our closers, but Motte is definitely not the guy when you have guys like Grimm and Strop (assuming you use Rondon for high leverage situations)
