Sometimes I feel like the players massing to celebrate walk offs at home plate is a little played out and forced but for THIS game it was well [expletive] deserved

We shouldn't have even been in another walkoff situation, but I'll [expletive] take it.

Now, in typical Cubs fashion, instead of taking this moment to springboard into a streak, we'll play another [expletive] filled game tomorrow and fall flat on our asses.

Why will you take it? You don't want them to make the playoffs. They don't deserve it and maddon needs the fire and passion.

Emotion talks.

In better days you would have been diagnosed with hysteria and banished to a workhouse.

I'm seriously just laughing in my seat right now because the Cubs won - that makes me happy, and they won in a game that showed how bad their pen really is, forcing them to have to make a move or two to improve the pen.

All the homers on here who ripped on me for dogging the Cubs pen the last 6 weeks before they imploded - you're forgiven. I accept your apology.

I love that David shows up at the last moment lol. Just [expletive] perfect. What a game.

I'm eating at fat choy in Vegas right now and put the game on my phone right as the botn started

I hope they miss the playoffs. They [expletive] deserve it.

I hope you have to live in North Dakota the rest of your life. You [expletive] deserve it.

No. He doesn't. That game was [expletive] brutal and you have to be a robot (or David) to not be breaking down by the end. Jesus dude, are you void of emotion? I got your back Ski.

Please stop. One bad reliever and one misused reliever does not make a bad bullpen.

I was literally starting a text to a friend about my hatred of Joe's bullpen management when the final alert came on my phone. So insane

You really are ridiculous; "the pen" wasn't bad tonight. The guy with one pitch who plenty of people here have voiced concerned about being the closer got hit and then the washed up pitcher they signed on the cheap midway through the season affirmed that he's basically all but done. I mean, you do realize the bullpen actually pitched 4 innings tonight and not just the 9th, right?

The Cubs pen is fine mostly.

I enjoy living in North Dakota, by the way.

And I stand by my point that this game never should have gone to the bottom of the ninth and a better reliever should have been put in. Celebrate the walkoff, sure, but it shouldn't have even been necessary. This season has been filled with [expletive] moments like that.

So should we be cautiously optimistic or deservedly skeptical?

The answer is both. Hopefully that 9th is the kick in the ass Joe needs to get our best relievers into better spots.

Your text was still valid.

The Cubs and Rockies are good for at least one instant classic at Wrigley almost every year...

just off the top of my head:

-The Angel Hernandez/Ricky Gutierrez game in 2001

-Huge lead blown followed by rally with Soriano walkoff single in 2007

-Epic comeback capped by DeRosa game winning homer in 2008

-Chris Volstad throwing 6.2 shutout innings in 2012 (ok, no one remembers that, but I looked it up and laughed)

-"The John Baker game" last year

Chalk up another. Really makes you wonder about higher powers.

Bullpen was fine outside of Motte and Soriano. Soriano is probably gone tomorrow and Motte is surely not the closer anymore. Honestly, this game probably worked out perfectly.
