I'd much rather draft a 3-4 OLB there.

Words can't even begin to describe how much I hate Dan Bernstein.

Ha true! I met him and Boers last fall at Bannerman's in Bartlett during one of their shows leading up to the Bears-Jets MNF game. He is every bit the jerk in person as he is on the radio. Insulting people in the audience just like he does with the callers. Although maybe the people in the audience are as stupid as his callers? He and Boers were out the door the second the show ended.

When Jeffrey gets hurt again it'll be Hartline and Wilson starting at WR. Or worse. Probably worse.

Don't even have Hartline yet. Wilson and Jeffery have both been hurt in every pro season they've had. I'm OK with this trade though. Especially if it's a 4th coming back. However, if they don't cut Harvin in the next day or two they will have to give their 4 to Seattle.

But that would be pick 101 (pending comp picks) coming back for Marshall. That's a pretty decent haul considering they gave up 2 picks in the 70s for Marshall, got 2 great seasons from him, 1 other season, and it saves cap space.

Wait I thought it was gonna be a 5th rounder. Did I miss something?

I like Bernstein most of the time, but when he goes off on meatball tangents like this he's annoying. He's definitely a guy you either love or hate.

While i'd love this, I think Suh can and will get more money elsewhere, and I think it would be better to get an impact defender at 7 and try to get a receiver in the 2nd or 3rd like a Devin Smith, Dorial Green-Beckham (though I doubt they'd take him with suspension issues in college) Jaelen Strong, Justin Hardy, someone like that

@dan_bernstein: Great day to be a #Bears fan. Your new GM just got something in exchange for Brandon Marshall. Enjoy clown college, #Jets, it's your turn.

Edit: just saw it was already posted

Missed that I posted it before a 5th was announced. Of course, I could have missed it when I posted.

While I am not a fan of this, I have optimism that Wilson can become a really good receiver. If they can get the speed guy that everyone's been coveting for this team, they could be a pretty good unit.

I just don't see how this makes the Bears a better football team.

I used to like the guy but ever since the debacle with Sharp and the Hawks, and constantly making up [expletive] by saying things like "my guy tells me" or "my source says," its been getting old. Not to mention he's actually starting to cite Terez Owens as an actual source now too. lol.

Great WR depth in this draft. While there's also great depth at edge rusher, the top guys are a good bit above the rest. I think they could get a Beasley at 7, and then come back and take their WR in the 2nd. Sammie Coates may be there. Devin Smith.

Damn. When the rumors first came out I was hoping for a least a third. Would have been okay with with a 4th. 5th leaves me annoyed, but I guess they didn't want to risk paying him and not being able to unload him later. At least it's a bad team so I'm guessing it's their own 5th, which is just like our 5th that we lost.

I know they've had Hartline in for a visit, but my choice for a mid range WR in FA is Cecil Shorts.

Doesn't bother me. Draft picks for old, injured, cap-heavy players usually isn't a bad thing. And he was redundant with Jeffery.

I agree with the overall sentiment that his value will only go down but he's not that old, he's turning 31 in a couple of weeks. It's not like he's a receiver that uses speed to make things happen. I can see him slowly morphing into a crafty possession receiver similar to the end of Muhsin Muhammad's career.

And how is he injured other than the rib and ankle injuries that will be healed by training camp?

Well he had surgery last off season on his hip. Since he isn't a speed guy, he's a very physical guy. Even beyond receiving, he's a physical blocker. I won't be surprised to see him deal with injuries that, even if they don't keep him out, reduce his effectiveness.

And 31 is kind of old despite the examples of guys who produced past 31.

11.8 yards per catch this year. He already is Muhammad.
