Even with the buffer time of knowing he'd very likely be moved - it's still incredibly disappointing. Probably for a 4th rounder or something too.

I'd say a 4th is best case.

I know Brandon would be very productive if he was coming back, I would have preferred to keep him but I'm willing to give Pace the benefit of doubt for now that Marshall really was a net negative to the team. Apparently he had already pissed off Pace twice since he took over as GM...of course this is according to Bernstein who has led the drive to aggressively get Marshall out of town from day 1.

Trade would not become official until start of the league year on Tues. Jets expected to part with mid-round pick for Marshall.

flood of calls and emails from concerned Jets fans right now.

their consensus: Cutler was a strong willed QB that wouldn't take [expletive] from Marshall, Jets have nothing like that and it will be a disaster.

When Jeffrey gets hurt again it'll be Hartline and Wilson starting at WR. Or worse. Probably worse.

Reggie Wayne and Percy Harvin are on the market!

was inclined to be okay with this but the smug glee from pieces of [expletive] like dave kaplan suggests this must be a very bad thing indeed

Dan Bernstein

@dan_bernstein

Great day to be a #Bears fan. Your new GM just got something in exchange for Brandon Marshall. Enjoy clown college, #Jets, it's your turn.

Where have a read a tweet similar to this before...

Bernstein and Kaplan are obsessed with using variations of the word "clown" to describe him at any opportunity they get.

Expected to be a 5th round pick going to the Bears for Brandon Marshall. Next step for Jets likely to be parting with Percy Harvin

I'm fine with it. Hard to say just how disruptive he was with the team. Certainly seemed like it became an increasingly bigger issue as the season went on.

Only a 5th? I guess I figured we'd at least get two late-round picks for him. Maybe he really is that much of an a-hole in the locker room?

And we are bringing back Clausen...maybe that means Cutler is staying?

It makes sense to me...it was pretty obvious that the Bears were going to cut him if they couldn't find someone to trade for him.

Don't even have Hartline yet. Wilson and Jeffery have both been hurt in every pro season they've had. I'm OK with this trade though. Especially if it's a 4th coming back. However, if they don't cut Harvin in the next day or two they will have to give their 4 to Seattle.

But that would be pick 101 (pending comp picks) coming back for Marshall. That's a pretty decent haul considering they gave up 2 picks in the 70s for Marshall, got 2 great seasons from him, 1 other season, and it saves cap space.

I was neutral on Marshall's return. I would have preferred at least a 4 for him, but I can live with this. I think that type of irritant personality can only be tolerated for a finite amount of time. Being around bipolar people sucks. They got their three years without a huge disaster, so I chalk that up as a success and am ready to move on.

They will need to go out and get another receiver now, but the Marshall/Jeffery combo was getting redundant and counterproductive. Need variety.

Im just wondering where the production is going to come from. The offense looks thin in the WR department with a lot of unproven guys there. If the Bears are really doing a small rebuild and shedding salary does this mean they go WR in the second or third round? I am not sure how deep the WR class is this year.

If you trade Marshall does this mean you look at cutting Houston, Allen, Garza and the other clogs hogging payroll and playing time for the young guys?
