Well that opinion might make for interesting radio, cuz you know Kaplan is creaming his pants in anticipation of McCown's return, and Cutler's departure.

Starting to question this hire of Pace already and he hasn't even done anything yet. Probably should give him the benefit of the doubt right now but he's certainly not off to a good start.

So far this could all be platitudinous and if it stays that way, no harm. The fox hire was boring and uninspired but at least professional and resulted in what looks like a quality staff.

Yeah. I don't love Fox. Seems like a bit of a football meatheady type. But I really really like the staff (except maybe the ST guy).

I'll most likely just jump to whichever team Cutler goes to (probably Titans, hi dew).

The Bears arent actually considering getting rid of Cutler to save moneey. Even complete idiot GMs arent that stupid. This is all media scrutiny in order to cater to meatball fans.

Cutler isnt going anywhere unless Tennessee offers their first round pick for him. Fans and some media members just cant think clearly or rationally about this. No Cutler, no chance to compete.

According to Bernstein the Bears maybe trying to go the Cubs route and suck to get better. He's got a raging boner about it. Every time he talks about it you can hear the glee in his voice. I guess no one told him that a team doesn't need to do that in the NFL.

God that's idiotic. I could be wrong but I don't think any team ever goes into a season hoping to tank in the NFL. Even the Jacksonvilles of the world hope that a good draft class, an easy schedule and some luck will get them into the playoffs. After 6-8 games sure there are some teams with an eye on better draft positioning.

I haven't been listening today, but just like two days ago he was telling a caller that that type of full teardown to lose on purpose doesn't work and doesn't make sense in the NFL.

That's not what he was saying all day yesterday when all the Cutler chatter was going.

He'll say next year doesn't matter, but he also says losing on purpose doesn't make sense in football.

He was talking about longterm overhauls, tear downs and massive change when all the coaching/GM stuff went down. Although he's played both sides of the fence on that because he is a secret idiot that doesn't know stuff. He's all over moving on from Cutler but if they keep him he will probably declare it was the obvious option.

Well, he says he'd be fine with them moving on from Cutler because he's tired of him, but I don't think he has ever said it's the best "football" move. He just starts ranting about not caring about next year and it not mattering whether Cutler is here or not.

which is moronic and is an ass covering way of saying they have to tank in order to get better.

He's a moron.

I disagree with him strongly, but nah, not really.

He thinks they can't be good enough next year to win a super bowl, which is dumb, but it's not the same as "get rid of everybody who is any good and get the #1 pick."

Advocating that they ignore 2015 and base all decisions on how it will affect 2016 and beyond is exactly that, an ass covering way of promoting a tank job. It isn't the same thing as saying get the #1 pick, it is an ass covering way of saying that because if you ignore current needs you will suck and just because you don't say I want them to suck does not mean you are not advocating for policy that will directly lead you to sucking. He wants to get rid of Marshall and Cutler ASAP. He wants them to suck.

That seems to be his only agenda here. I wonder if he had some type of negative encounter with them and just holds a personal vendetta.

I haven't been listening this week, but since the end of the season, he's been completely anti-Marshall, and Cutler-ambivalent.

He's kinda migrated more anti-Cutler as the offseason went on. His thing is "I trust Ryan Pace to make a decision, but I think he should make the decision to cut ties with Cutler now and start fresh."

I do not listen often, but from what I heard I could never see an interpretation where he was Cutler-ambivalent. He wants him gone. He wants to "move on".

Don't worry, you probably won't need to be a Titans fan. I think management is sold on Mettenberger to the point that they won't bring in anybody who seriously challenges him.

I can understand why Bernstein is ready to completely blow it up and restart. It's an easy narrative.

My gut is that there's some talent on this roster (he thinks its void of talent) that the coaching staff can help and develop and that they can turn around the defense in a hurry. As far as the offense goes, the Cutler connections with Loggains and Gase lead me to believe that there's no way they're gonna dump him outright. It'll likely be a 1-2 year relationship while the Bears find a developmental prospect to scoop up.

I get why he hates Marshall and how crazy he is, but I don't think I'm comfortable with just cutting him outright if you believe this team can be decent in the near future. If we're going to keep Cutler, dumping Marshall makes no sense. All or nothing IMO.

Yeah, there hasn't been any doubt since Loggains and Gase that Cutler was staying. I mean, sure if some team gives up a top 1/2 of the 2nd round pick for him, you think about it......but nobody's going to do that. And the Bears aren't going to cut him for the sake of cutting him (if so, they'd have no justification to NOT cut Marshall AND Allen also, and would have over 30Mil of dead weight on their cap). That's honestly just stupid considering upgrading over Marshall and Cutler would be nearly impossible in the short term (Allen is a different story).
