What does a celebration dinner look like?

Popping Champagne, high fives, desserts.. i dont know only spoke to him through texts. His words was it seemed celebratory.. also said it was 10 people in the private dining room.

I'm pretty sure those things were comped when PTR snuck a plastic fly in his soup.

They were planning on a routine dinner with Lester when they got the word from Brett Anderson's agent and couldn't wait to celebrate.

I heard they were celebrating because PTR cleaned up at the bingo hall

im surprised PTR didn't have Lester over for lunch instead of dinner am i doing this right

The problem there is that the soup kitchen closes at 5pm, so lunch wasn't an option.

PTR suggested RPM because he thought it stood for "Reasonably Priced Meals"

PTR's hands are too sensative to wash dishes once his Rush debit card is declined.

He just came from the trainyard, had a belly full of stew, he thought ahead.

I wish some more info about the Red Sox contract offer would leak out so we would have a better idea of how much to worry about them.

Nothing like $150+ million to bring out the genuine love for a city and their team.

That's right, money. He's money to be playing here in the great money of money.

More of what Dempster said, if anyone is interested

Ryan Dempster - who pitched for the Cubs for nine years - spent the 2013 season with Lester in Boston and said Lester was asking about the Cubs back then, over a year before he hit free agency.

"This isn't just something where Jon Lester is coming here to try to drive the price up," Dempster said Wednesday morning on the "Kap and Haugh" show. "He is genuinely interested. I remember in 2013, sitting there, knowing that he was a free agent down the road and things weren't quite getting worked out with a contract extension [in Boston] and he was asking me all kinds of questions.

"He was very, very intrigued about coming to play here. He asked me, 'How is it for my family?,' 'How is it as a player?,' you know, all those kinds of things. This is a very real possibility. Like I said, you never know what happens. You can go somewhere on a trip like he goes to Atlanta and they say, 'Hey, we'd love to have you here for eight years.' How do you say no to that?

"There's lots of different possibilities. But I do know the chances of him coming here are greater than him going to a lot of different places. I know he genuinely loves the city of Chicago and he's really, really excited about the possibility of playing with a team that's going to be good in years to come here."

Speaking of Dempster, is he officially retired now? Has there been any word on if he plans to do anything like coach or go into the media? If we want a clubhouse guy to keep players loose just make up a bench coaching type position for him and bring him in.

I think he did officially retire and no thanks on the latter.

He can come in and do the 7th inning stretch this year in his best Harry Caray imitation.

Chris Cotillo reported in October that Dempster retired, but I'm not sure there has been anything beyond that.

That sounds better than the tweet.

Dempster probably wasn't the guy to ask how it was for his family though.
