Mark Grace

i knew you'd have some lame ass answer like grace or sandberg smh

Yeah what a dumb little kid I was...

Well, yeah...Shawon Dunston was my favorite player when I was a little kid and I thought there wasn't anyone better, but he's not going to still be my pick at [expletive] 35.

Well good for you. I never liked a Cubs player as much as I liked Mark Grace growing up. So if you were to add up my nostalgic fondness for individual Cubs players, then Grace would be at the top, therefore he remains my all-time favorite. As a kid growing up playing baseball, he meant a great deal to me. Don't see why that is such a "lame answer". He was a damn good player for his entire career with the Cubs. Realizing now what a toolbag he is in his personal life doesn't negate the fact that I adored the guy as a kid and doesn't erase the impact he had on me.

As an adult, Aramis has been my favorite player fwiw

Yeah, because he turned out to be a toolbag, but mainly because he was so damn boring.

It's like having your pick of awesome cars and then picking a Volvo for the safety rating (so long as Grace isn't driving).

Well if I was growing up trying to become a Volvo, then I'd pick the Volvo. As a lefty first baseman growing up, he had my dream job.

When I was a kid, Jody Davis.

All-time, probably Kerry Wood. Holy crap did I think he was going to be amazing, and for those few years, he was. Then he also managed to hang around being vaguely useful for long enough that I don't hate thinking about him the way I do Prior. He was the first prospect I ever really followed.

When I was a kid it was Mark Grace b/c of the 1989 team and I played 1B during little league at the time.

More recent it would be Derrick Lee due to his power and fielding at 1b. Plus, he seemed like a good guy.

Loved Rod Beck in 98. Always thought Lynrd Skynrd should have been his theme music.

I loved Aramis but for some reason never warmed up to D Lee.

Lee was the epitome of snoozeville. Aramis was great just for all of the shirtless interviews alone.

Dave Kingman -- because you just watched him. It seemed like he either looked ridiculous, or he hit the ball a mile. There was nothing else. I'm not even sure he was a baseball player. Now that I look back, I can't believe how short a tenure he had with the Cubs, and that he was an all-star twice in 3 years with the Cubs. WTF? He played 15 years in the majors?

Kingman is a definite favorite of mine. He was with the Cubs during my pre-teen years and I loved when he would come to bat.

I actually went to a game at Wrigley the year before the Cubs acquired him and he smacked two homeruns, one of which left the stadium. I think my enthusiasm for Kingman as a Cub came from that game.

Later, as an adult, I played slow-pitch softball for several years. I often fantasized about what i would be like to have him on a slow-pitch softball team.

With that being said, Sandberg has always been my favorite Cub.

I'll be the first one to give the obvious answer: a tie between Kris Bryant and Javy Baez

Sammy 1st. I got irrationally pissed when idiot Cubs fans started booing him in 2004. Aramis 2nd, Big Z 3rd.

Like Mojo, I had a major Prior man-crush going in 2003 though.

Dawson will probably always be my fav, but some lesser-remembered guys would include:

Michael Barrett (because he punched zynski in the face, best part of that season by a lot)

Rick Wilkins (because of that one year)

Geovany Soto (basically every catcher that could muster an OPS over .650 was a fav)

Matt Murton (because of stats and stuff)

Chuck McElroy (no idea)

My former stepdad looked just like Chuck McElroy. A lot of people thought Mike Singletary, because he was built like a linebacker (although short), but he looked exactly like a heavier McElroy.
