And why?

Mine is pretty obvious. I remembered Dawson as an Expo and was excited when the Cubs signed him. That 1987 season made follow him until he retired. Just think of the player he might have been had his knees held up throughout his career.

Didn't we just do this?

Sosa over Prior for longevity for me

Prior for those couple years was my favorite by far, though.

Mine is just as obvious - Mr. Cub. Ernie came along when I was the age to start getting into baseball and was basically the only reason to follow the Cubs for quite a few years.

Kerry Wood, followed by Aramis Ramirez. I was hoping they'd win in 2008 and Wood could close out the final game by throwing a 1998-style slurve and retiring after the game.

Growing up...for some reason I just loved Leon Durham. I hated Mark Grace for a long time for taking Durham's spot. Because kid logic.

Sandberg for sure. I was glued to the TV for his entire career.

A distant second was Jody Davis. I couldn't stand Damon Berryhill for what I thought was taking Jody's place. Looking back, Jody was just worn out and on the down side of a decent career.

Mark Grace and Andre Dawson round it out for me.

I modeled my (brief) baseball career after Shawon. I used to pat the ball in my glove to get a grip while I gunned the ball wildly to 1st (I played 3B). I also used to swing as hard as I possibly could at everything in hopes of ocassionally hitting it.

I never really got gaga over Sandberg or Grace. I liked Dawson and Sosa a ton, but not to the point of obsession either. Like I said in the last post, Dunston was probably "my guy" out of every Cub ever. And I'm not sure I know why.

Sosa, and its not even [expletive] close.

Though Prior's 2003 is my my single favorite season performance in my lifetime.

2001 sammy is up there too for me...although 98 sammy did have june of 1998 which was just stupid

That June was just obscene. Following him was so much damn fun, and defending him against meatballs was one of my first steps to looking beyond the typical back of the baseball card numbers.
