I'm at least on board with playing him every day now, especially when the apparent alternative are non-factors like Ryan Kalish or Emilio Bonifacio

Huh?

Hmm, thought he'd been starting LF, but I guess he's been in CF for all his OF starts, and Sweeney alongside him only the one time.

I fear what Wainwright did to him on Saturday will turn out to be a microcosm of his career.

i hope you're right

That was part of my point - shows a flash, until it is realized that if you don't throw him fastballs, he looks foolish. After he hit that homer, Wainwright fed him breaking/offspeed stuff the rest of the game and made him look stupid.

bush league

I still can't believe he would break that fake unwritten rule. Trade him now. We don't want that crap on the team. Cubs Way our Outta the Way, amiright?

Wait, "hitters shouldn't swing at the first pitch" is not a real thing. Someone is saying this is an actual thing?

Seems that a lot of hitters struggle with Wainwrights breaking stuff…

Lake has almost a half a season of major league games played, do you really think that teams don't have a scouting report on him until he shows up on game day?

If you guys realize he hits fastballs and struggles with breaking stuff, I'm pretty sure all the other teams do too.

Junior's BABIP is sitting at .381 with a .263 average. I'd be more concerned with this but I think he's a guy that's going to naturally have a pretty high BABIP because of how hard he hits the baseball when he makes contact. Now the K rate is definitely an issue.

i had to laugh at this from Arguello today:

One person who can't seem to find himself with either hand is Junior Lake. Junior Lake went o for 4 with 3 strikeouts. Plus his out fielding has taken a step back. Much more tentative, much more from the Kenny Lofton "Playing the outfield while being swarmed by bees" school of out fielding.

Kind of small sample, you might want to look at Castillo, Schierholtz and Valbuena who aren't far behind. He also has a .800+ ops compared to those 3 struggling to put up .650..

Also what was Rizzo's K rate in his first 50 major league games?

I just want sit back and see what we have here. With Baez and Bryant on the horizon, we don't need Lake to be a superstar. If he can be decent, and fall in behind Baez, Bryant, Rizzo and Castro, put up a mid .750 ops like he did pretty much every season in the minors he'll be fine for us.

I love how you're so defensive about such random players.

And what do Rizzo's first 50 PA have to do with a player like Lake who has 295?

He said 50 games, FWIW

Also what was Rizzo's K rate in his first 50 major league games? 29.3%
