I love how you're so defensive about such random players.

And what do Rizzo's first 50 PA have to do with a player like Lake who has 295?

He said 50 games, FWIW

Oh yeah. Either way, Lake played in 64 games last year, plus, as you know, it's such an arbitrary comparison between two very different players. He just seems to have this weird sense that people here in general over value Rizzo too much.

I don't see how anyone can be super down on Rizzo. This is a fun little meaningless comparison.

I'm not really a Rizzo fan and I'm still bemused/baffled with how neely keeps bringing him up like people are slobbering over him like he's a once in a lifetime talent.

Votto?

That was definitely my guess, too.

I'm confused... Rizzo is already almost at 1.0 fWAR and has a .405 wOBA.

Why are you confused?

Why there is a discussion on whether he's good/overvalued or whatever.

There isn't, really...outside of Mojo pointing out that neely thinks everyone overrates him.

Yeah, I think someone once said Rizzo could be a "generational" talent and it basically flipped a switch in his head and now Rizzo and what he perceives as his faults is his go-to to bring up whenever he thinks people are being too hard on another player.

And I think there was a time where someone either compared Rizzo to Trumbo or Goldschmidt and neely just could not let it go.

The problem with Rizzo's value is that we simply need or are hoping he would be much, much more. Which isn't fair to him. I think some are expecting a combo of derrick lee defense and a young Pujols offense.

I also think that many people are down on his "value" because a lot of it comes from his defense, which does not show up in the score sheet.

Also the FO's comment about him being a "generational talent" didn't help the expectations.

That was Rizzo's first season up where he struggled. Lake is struggling with K's but doing better overall than Rizzo did. I don't want t compare him to Rizzo, just saying that young guys struggle, and can improve k rates.

Don't know why we have to be so down on Lake.

I don't know where he'll end up but I just hope for the best.

Our best outfielder(Nate) last year posted .251 .301 .770 as basically a platoon vs righties(53 at bats vs LHP) and we were fired up. If Lake can do anything near that in the future, as our 3rd best outfielder, I think that would be solid.

Even if he just holds the spot until Soler or Almora are ready.

Where do you get this nonsense? Nobody even thinks anything pujols relate with rizzo. Your whole obsession with "people who expect too much" is in your own head.

It was an exaggeration to show the point. He is a good, young player but that's not enough for some people.

So if it's not because of expectations how would someone be down on a 23-24 year old who was 1 of 2 cub everyday players to post a war worthy of being an MLB starter?

I do think he might be able to be Votto-lite at the plate one day as he continues to develop if he keeps up this combination of being able to draw walks, not strikeout, and hit for power the way he does.

Your stupid exaggeration only shows the point that you have a warped perception of reality.
