I want to hear something from Olney, Rosenthal, Heyman etc before getting too excited. I'd LOVE to hear Levine pop up and say this thing is close. So far, we've gotten Kaplan and nothing else. Even Brett mentioned Texas as wanting to get involved possibly if Darvish doesn't work out.

just how elite is baez's bat? i realize we don't have much to go on, but what would be a good comp if he hits close to his ceiling?

I'm not the best for this, but everything out there suggests that if he hits his ceiling, he could be a dominant hitter with a plus contact ability and plus power.

Of course, it's the exception that hits the ceiling.

It's early for comparisons, but maybe an Aramis Ramirez type hitter.

I am a bit surprised that the Tigers seem to want to protect Castellanos more than Turner. I know Castellanos is their best positional prospect in a fairly awful positional system, who also happens to be at a position of need soon, but Turner is a far superior talent.

I mean, I would rather just get impact talent, and Turner has that potential. Any deal with Turner will pretty much make me okay with the deal (obviously, I hope for good 2nd/3rd pieces, but impact talent should be the focus). I wouldn't mind grabbing Rob Brantly as a 3rd piece in a deal.

Oh, I think the ceiling for Baez, if the reports about how he looked after he signed are true, might be superior Aramis. But that's ceiling.

On draft day Baez's quick wrists were compared to Gary Sheffield.

Hoyer is going to be on CSN's Chicago Baseball Hot Stove Talk tomorrow at 5PM CST with Kaplan. Hopefully, it's to talk about a flurry of moves just made......

I already planned on following the minors more than the majors this year. Adding Rizzo and Turner would pretty much ensure it.

If the Cubs fall out of the race early on and fan apathy sets in, Rizzo and Turner could be brought up and sold as part of the future, possibly helping attendance figures later in the season.

Yep, I think MiLB.TV is a must-buy for this coming season.

Oh [expletive], I totally forgot that existed. How much is that?

Repost from the Maholm thread, but why the hell not here...

As @BleacherNation points out, the Cubs 40 man is full. I am expecting the corresponding move to be Garza to DET

I think it was 20 or 25 bucks last year.

Well Scott, you've been reporting a Garza trade that is 40 man neutral at best for the Cubs, so that doesn't fix the problem, does it?

They were speculating that someone like Baker would tag along.

At that price I'll pick it up regardless. I had no idea it was that cheap.

Thats what I asked him and some others said they expect other Cubs to go with Garza (Baker/DeWitt)

Anyone on here can open a Twitter account with a MLB logo, make educated guesses from what actual reporters are saying and act like they've got sources. To say I'm beyond skeptical of that dude, is an understatement.

As well you should be. Such an arrangement does make a ton of sense, however.

I was trying to confirm last year, and they were actually offering it as a $10 add on if you ordered MLB.tv. Not sure if they'll bring that back this year.

Only problem with MiLB.tv is not all affiliates are on it (at least as of last year). Iowa and Boise definitely are.
