I doubt that's the case, but I honestly think as long as he leaves Milwaukee, we can build in a different way and still contend immediately. 8 for 200? I think I'll pass.

If by immediately you mean 2-4 years, then yes

Maybe Theo took the down payment of his new house out of the baseball budget.

Or the Ricketts are planning another big safari and are running the expenses through the team. Safari Tom strikes again.

So we can offer Pujols mega dollars (reasonable to say our qualifying offer had to be 150-175 plus, right?) but we do not have the cash to sign Fielder? And this after Ricketts just two weeks ago said Theo and Jed can do what they want as long as they feel it is the right move?

This smells like BS.

The Cardinals had Stan Musial call Pujols to try to talk him into staying.

Oooh this could get Cards fans to hate Pujols. That'd be outstanding. Could've been a Cardinals legend like STAN THE MAN NOW YOU'RE JUST A HIRED GUN LIKE THE REST OF EM! BERKMAN WILL DO BETTER THAN YOU ANYWAY

It's already happening. A post from GRB:

You guys are all too nice. He's a greedy prick. He did turn his back on St. Louis, and now instead of sweeping all the rumors in the past that he's been an [expletive] to fans, team mates, and others can come out. Everyone has always given Albert the benefit of the doubt because he's our guy, but where there is smoke there is fire and I believe everything I've heard about him being a dick. Good bye dick.

meh

Pick up Morales

Sign Darvish

Keep Garza

Trade for Headley

Deal Z (and others/cash) for Morrison

Sell Soriano for prospects

Trade Byrd for prospects

Use prospects to trade for Upton

You can have contingencies that involve people like Smoak or Sanchez or any number of people if you want. Just because they're not as simple to see, doesn't mean that trades are not going to happen.

For sure. And I'm gonna laugh at them.

It's cool...I do enough stupid [expletive] for others to laugh at. It balances out in the end.

Nobody is saying trades won't happen, but trades won't make this team a contender anytime soon.

Marlins fans watch/will watch pressers for Bell, Reyes and Buehrle.

Angels fans watch/will watch pressers for Pujols and Wilson.

We get David DeJesus (nice player and all).

This is SO FAR of course but damn. If it were the Cubs who signed the first two teams players I mentioned, this place would have to shut down due to the amount of people going happy crazy.

And for those of you who say it is has only been a month, yes, I get that.

At this rate, it's hard to see even one of those things happening

What exactly do you envision as a realistic Z (and cash/others) for Morrison trade? I'm curious.

Oh my God, stop being so emo. Every post I've seen from you lately belongs on LiveJournal.

How many times are you going to post the same, "Marlins got blah blah, we got nothing. Would be so nice to be Miami," post?

Plus I promise if we signed Bell, Reyes and Buehrle for the years/amounts they got, NSBB might be going crazy, but it surely wouldn't be happy.

Same with the Angels, the Wilson deal is really good, but nobody would have been happy after about a week if we had signed Albert to 10/250.

I call BS on that report. Maybe they don't have the cash to match the exorbitant price Boras is probably asking for, but that doesn't mean they won't be players.
