  1. Chuck Garfien @ChuckGarfien Just interviewed Peter Gammons. He says it's "a real possibility" Prince Fielder signs with Cubs. Now, I do not know if what Gammons is saying should be taken seriously at all. I think we all know that he and Theo are friends, so perhaps Gammo has inside info? The tweet was from this morning.
  2. Pretty sure you are. On the max end, ok. I would like to have him for 5-6. Again, the market just increased for Prince with the Pujols signing.
  3. Thus it is a bad contract because he signed with the Marlins? Uh, ok.
  4. And who in their right mind gives Cespedes 50M? Lots of chatter on MLB network that teams are saying if he wants that much, they'll look in another direction.
  5. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/cubs/post/_/id/7419/pujols-deal-sets-up-well-for-cubs lol good luck even getting 7 Well, if its and AL team, he'll get 7.

  7. I wish we were the Marrrrrrrrrrlinnnnnnnnns! In a way, so do I. I mean, two titles in 14 years sounds pretty good considering our history. But that is all I would want as far as being a Marlin.
  8. Meant to put this in with rule V post. Sorry, guys. DALLAS -- The Cubs may have left the Winter Meetings without filling the openings at first and third base or adding another starting pitcher, but general manager Jed Hoyer said Thursday he felt they got a lot accomplished. "We feel really good about where we are after this week," Hoyer said. "It's been a really productive week. A lot of this week is pushing things forward. "You always see a lot of things get done a day or two or even early next week after these Meetings, and we think that will be the case for us as well," he said. "We feel we've gotten things to a good place and, hopefully, some of those things come to fruition soon. Leaving here without a 'deal,' that's OK." http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20111208&content_id=26129064&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb
  9. Rule 5 Draft activity: The Cubs selected recently converted right-hander Lendy Castillo from the Phillies' organization in the Major League phase, and picked infielder Ricky Alvarez from the Angels in the Triple-A phase. They also lost two infielders as the Orioles took Ryan Flaherty and the Red Sox picked Marwin Gonzalez. In 38 Minor League games, Castillo is 7-4 with a 2.43 ERA since he was converted from shortstop after the 2009 season. He has 111 strikeouts and has walked 42 in that stretch. He's projected to be a starter, but will be in the bullpen this season.
  10. I guess Prince is too oval shaped for many on here. And no! I am not advocating the Cubs give him a 7 year deal.
  11. Well, to call the Marlins and Angels non contenders is way off base. And now add the players they just signed to the mix and it is even more off base.
  12. Especially after Ricketts said we have the money.
  13. Marlins fans watch/will watch pressers for Bell, Reyes and Buehrle. Angels fans watch/will watch pressers for Pujols and Wilson. We get David DeJesus (nice player and all). This is SO FAR of course but damn. If it were the Cubs who signed the first two teams players I mentioned, this place would have to shut down due to the amount of people going happy crazy. And for those of you who say it is has only been a month, yes, I get that.
