Excellent pick of Campbell. Like you said vance, he has all the physical skills of a top 10 pick, but his technique is iffy. If his technique can be improved, he could be an awesome tackle. Great value at this spot.

weis21 and the Chargers are now on the clock. I PMd him.

Almost went with Campbell but he just doesn't fit Whisenhunt's idea of a tackle in my eyes. He's not the type of guy to roll the dice and take a guy who is a bit of a project, especially with first round picks. I think the Cardinals come into the draft with a clear focus on shoring up the defense. They will need to replace Dansby and many of their other guys are getting older. I wouldn't be surprised to see their first three picks spent on DL, LB and DB in some order.

Yeah, the Cardinals have too many needs to be taking luxuries in the first round – and even with his very high ceiling, Campbell is a project and, thus, a luxury for most teams. The Cowboys have few needs in the starting lineup and could take a shot at developing a guy like Campbell.

I'll also say that if the draft shakes out like this, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Cowboys trade back a little as well.

My guess is they are hoping that Iupati or Thomas falls to the 27 spot and if neither of those are there, they are likely to trade back a few spots and try to pick up some extra picks in what is a fairly deep draft.

Despite the football know-it-all's advice, the Chargers select:

Terrence Cody - DT - Alabama

To me, he looks too much like Jamaal Williams v. 2.0 to pass up. He really doesn't have to move around too much in the Charger's 3-4 scheme - just get in the way. Of course, he could always lose weight too if needed.

Vikings needs are at DT, CB and QB with the possiblity of G. The DT's I want are off the board as are the top two interior lineman. That means it's down to Devin McCourty at CB from Rutgers or Colt McCoy. The #3 CB or #3 QB.

QB is the more important position, CB is the more immediate need with Cedric Griffin's injury. Both players fit in well with what the Vikings do. McCourty is the better value pick.

I'll wait for Exile to chime in before I make my pick. I'm looking primarily at anywhere along the offensive line, anywhere along the defensive line, or LB. All those places could use a first round player and I think a first round pick would a luxury anywhere else.

I think Favre is coming back for 1 more year. Then I think the Vikes make a big splash again at QB.

I would mostly agree with your positions; though I think a CB is more likely than a LB in round one (a TE in the top three or four rounds is another luxury that wouldn't surprise me). I am definitely hoping for offensive and defensive linemen uber alles early though. After Polian's post-Super Bowl loss comments about the offensive line -- reminiscent of last year's anti-Addai comments leading to Brown's drafting -- I have to believe that's the most likely position to be drafted in the first.

Second, I hate how this draft has gone so far for the Colts (unless I'm missing someone). I was realistically hoping for maybe Pouncey for guard, Odrick/Price for defensive tackle, etc., would be available. Right now I see Charles Brown at OT, Everson Griffen at DE, Tyson Alualu/Geno Atkins/Arthur Jones at DT, and Sean Weatherspoon at LB. Honestly, I think I'd trade down at this point in real life. Some of those players I think you could get later in the draft; others I'm not necessarily sure they're tons better than players you could get later. I suppose Weatherspoon is the best value, but I doubt the Colts take a LB in round one. I'd probably decide between either USC player with Brown being favored.

I wasn't much help, sorry, I just got out of two trials and haven't kept up on this much at all.

I just don't think the Colts are too concerned with CB right now with the way players stepped up last season. I think they'll add one for depth but not IMO in the first round.

I completely agree with the rest of your post. This has been a terrible draft for the Colts so far. Weatherspoon is the best player, his scouting report screams a Colt, and the Colts could definitely use a possible starter at outside linebacker. But that isn't the Colts draft strategy at all.

Charles Brown also sounds like a Colt but with the Colts releasing Lilja in order to get bigger and improve the run game I'm not sure Brown is the right answer to a new look Colts offensive line. Plus it looks like the Colts will want someone to fill an immediate need and I'm not sure anybody on the board will do that (they all seem to be raw with upside).

The DT's don't interest me and Griffen's weaknesses turn me off.

So I would agree the Colts would try to trade up or down in this draft. With their pick considering Polian's comments, they reluctantly pick Charles Brown, OT USC and hope they can continue to help him get bigger and stronger since he has the height.

OMC submitted his pick for the Saints – Sean Weatherspoon, OLB, Missouri.

I've added the 2nd round to the first post in the thread and we now enter the second round. mul21 and reggiemiller rules are on the clock for the Rams pick. I PMd them.

Since reggie seems to have disappeared, I'll do this myself. The Rams have needs everywhere except OT, MLB, and RB, but since they've spent heavily on the interior line I don't think they look there either. It's too early for any of the other QBs and they've used some recent early picks on WRs they hope to develop. I'd go Arrelious Benn here if not for that. Their DB and S situations were terrible last year in terms of coverage, so I think I'll take Patrick Robinson, CB Florida State.

I was stuck in a meeting when I was supposed to make the 1st pick and would have taken Bradford and then a DT here, but oh well, that's the way the cookie crumbles.

I'm glad you feel this way (if you are a rams fan). Most Rams fans I have talked to hate the idea of drafting a QB at #1. But I think it has to be done.

I'm not a Rams fan, but that makes the most sense for them. Even if he's a flop, they need a guy who has the potential to be a franchise QB. AJ Feely just isn't going to do it. Based on the moves they've made, I fully expect that to be the pick.

I think you only draft a QB if you are completely confident that the QB can become an elite QB. I'm not completely convinced these quarterbacks can do that – not moreso than I am that Suh or McCoy can become a dominant force at DT.

I don't think you force a pick purely out of need.

Sorry about that. Most of the board consensus at the time was Suh #1 so that's the way I went.

Avril and Hunter are serviceable for the end spot opposite Vanden Bosch, but this pick still presents an opportunity for a clear upgrade. Best was also considered (and is the direction i think they'll go in the draft)

2-2) Everson Griffen, DE, USC
