Spikes' stock has dropped, but I like him quite a bit. Especially in a 3-4 where his apparent lack of speed (not great 40 times or 10-yard splits) isn't as big a deal.

weis21 and the Chargers are now on the clock. I PMd him.

Yea Spikes was a guy I would have considered for the Ravens, but his stock has dropped too far to justify it in the 2nd. Guy is slow.

He timed very slow, but didn't look it on the field. He may play faster than he times and I'd be fine with the Titans taking him most anywhere.

Best in a 3-4 I think, though.

That is who I wanted to take with the 49ers. Takeo is getting older, would be a great mentor for him and Spikes would pair well with Willis in the future.

The Chargers select:

Jonathan Dwyer - RB - Georgia Tech

I was hoping Matthews or Best would fall to me, but Dwyer seems like he would be nice compliment to Sproles (assuming he's still there next year).

Dwyer's another guy I think will be a good deal for somebody after subpar speed showings at the combine. Though he did improve his stock a bit at his pro day, it seems.

jersey cubs fan and the Jets are now on the clock. I PMd him.

Gives the Cowboys someone to groom as an eventual replacement for Brooking so he would have time to develop.

Yeah, his 40 was slow, but this article had some nice things to say.

His forty time was a rather ordinary 4.70 seconds, but his running skills were a pleasant surprise. Dwyer presented himself to be much more than the power runner he was in college. He ran underneath his shoulders, quickly cut back against the grain and immediately changed direction when required. Dwyer also displayed solid hands out of the backfield.

I see whoever made the Giants pick for me really gave them a nobody.

Bowman's a pretty solid linebacker. And you did kind of limit my options with that pick.

Well I didn't want to completely crap out on my responsibilities, but I was in no position to research it. I'd never heard of the guy even though I've seen PSU play quite a bit.

It's all good. As for Bowman, he started the offseason as the 2nd linebacker from PSU (behind Sean Lee), but has had a pretty good offseason and his stock has risen. Now, he's probably comparable to Lee. Good size, good sideline-to-sideline speed. I think he'd make a good addition to Fewell's new Cover 2 system.

Almost the third round. Time to start scanning lists of OLs, DBs, DLs, WRs, and fast guys from Abilene Christian.

Really thought about "that guy" but going in a different direction. Has to be some kind of record, we'll have 3 Yellow Jackets drafted in a row.

The Vikings select S Morgan Burnett from Georgia Tech.

Just read today where Burnett's stock is rising fast – perhaps even to him being a late first round guy (third safety behind Berry and Mays).

CCP and Exile are now on the clock for the Colts' pick. I PMd him.

I have seen it's our turn. I'll wait until afternoon for Exile to chime in and then I'll make the pick.

Kind of busy right now and not a whole lot to say anyway. The player at LB I liked is long gone (Daryl Washington) as are most the CB's I'd want to take in the second. All three DT's I mentioned are available, but seems like one would be left in third. Unless I'm missing someone obvious, I'm not much help.

I don't see anyone obvious. The Colts love Big 10 players, they aren't afraid of players coming off injuries, and they love players who can be versatile on the line. This player will play on some run downs at DE, possibly some passing downs at DT, and also be a backup in case one of Freeney or Mathis gets hurt. He's not a Colts type of defensive end from the past, but he'll be a nice complement. The Colts select Corey Wootton out of Northwestern.

Nice. I really like Wootton and would be very pleased if the Colts went in that direction; he could offer versatility (a la Brock, in a way) while adding size and uniqueness (at least for the Colts).
