Gammons was clearly irritated with Steve Phillips on Baseball Tonight.

Gammons stance: Manny needs to go. End of his contract. He is disrespectful to everyone including the clubhouse kids.

Phillips stance: HOF'er blah blah blah

I've never seen Gammons get that pissed off on the air. He wasn't really irate when he thought Phillips was blaming Manny's behavior on Terry Francona.

I agree that Manny is a, well, whatever he is, but even if the Red Sox DO finally ship him out, Manny's not going to stop Being Manny.

He'll just become a clubhouse cancer with the new team. Not right away maybe, but it'll develop soon enough.

There are only about 55 games left.

If the new team quickly pays him 17-20 million for roughly 4 years not to be, I don't think he will (moreso than a goofy act now and then).

He's really acting up now because he doesn't want to be in Boston because he knows they won't give him that money.

Officials from teams around the sport are now beginning to hear details about the structure of the Manny Ramirez deal. According to one of them, the three players the Red Sox are seeking from the Marlins for Ramirez are Jeremy Hermida, pitcher Ryan Tucker and big-time outfield prospect Mike Stanton. However, the two sides also have discussed substituting Josh Willingham for Hermida.

Rotoworld:

Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus says the Red Sox, Pirates and Marlins have agreed to a three-team Manny Ramirez deal, pending Ramirez waiving his no-trade clause and league approval.

Carroll, not normally one of our preferred sources, has the Red Sox getting Jason Bay and John Grabow; the Marlins acquiring Ramirez, cash and a prospect from the Red Sox and the Pirates picking up Jeremy Hermida, two prospects from the Marlins and one from Boston.

But Gammons says,

The Manny Ramirez trade conversations are expected to continue into Thursday, according to a source. Because it's a very complicated deal, involving a player who has the right to veto the trade and other parts, it is still unlikely to happen. But the negotiations will go on.

"They haven't asked me for anything," Ramirez told ESPNdeportes.com's Enrique Rojas on the phone from Fenway Park before the Red Sox-Angels matchup on Wednesday night.

"The Red Sox don't deserve a player like me," Ramirez said. "During my years here, I've seen how they [the Red Sox] have mistreated other great players when they didn't want them to try to turn the fans against them.

"The Red Sox did the same with guys like Nomar Garciaparra and Pedro Martinez, and now they do the same with me. Their goal is to paint me as the bad guy," Ramirez added. "I love Boston fans, but the Red Sox don't deserve me. I'm not talking about money. Mental peace has no price, and I don't have peace here."

Anyone get a picture of Manny holding up the sign at today's Red Sox game saying he'd been traded to Green Bay for Favre?

Wait, i don't get it. Is it a done deal? or is it just "speculation"?

That's one version...

There's also:

Marlins get: Manny Ramirez, one prospect (from Red Sox), cash (from Red Sox)

Red Sox get: Jason Bay, John Grabow

Pirates get: Jeremy Hermida, Ryan Tucker, and two prospects (one each from Red Sox and Marlins)

And there's been some talk that Jack Wilson may head to the Red Sox with Jed Lowrie going back to the Pirates...

If that happens, the Pirates are actually looking like a team that may have some real talent in a few years...

C - ?

1B - Steve Pearce

2B - ?

SS - Jed Lowrie

3B - Pedro Alvarez

LF - Jose Tabata

CF - Andrew McCutchen

RF - Jeremy Hermida

They're gonna have a few holes, and their pitching staff will still need to come around... but that has the makings of a team that could be annoying for a few seasons.

and they'll have a lot more than that if they trade McLouth

Red Sox are really getting a hell of a deal if they don't include a really decent prospect or two on top of Manny.

So are the Pirates if any of the prospects they're supposed to get are any good.

Exactly. Bay to Hermida is probably a lateral move, with Hermida being cheaper and having more upside. If they get a decent arm or 2 on top of that, they've made out. Florida is really getting screwed in this deal. Hermida and Tucker for 2 months of Manny?

Why trade McLouth? He's still cheap production for a while, no?

boston would be making out great in that trade. i don't know why any team would allow them to really win a manny trade when they're the ones in the corner.

I agree and not only that Florida can't offer Manny arb either so they won't be able to get picks? I don't understand the Marlins in this deal at all.
