I adopted the Rays when I moved to Ft. Myers 2 years ago as the local team to root for. There is a lot less space on the bandwagon since then.

It's rather ironic that the Rays have started to improve since I moved here. The same thing happened to me in Minneapolis when I moved there in 1998. Four years later they were playing in the ALCS. Nothing better than going to the ballpark the day of the game and getting a seat behind homeplate for $25.

earl weaver has made me decide to make the orioles my a.l team. i'll just wait til their good to REALLY follow them, though.

They were my second favorite when I was a kid until the Blue Jays hooked up with Syracuse for their AAA team.

I guess it would be the Rays for me.

But I never have a consistent second favorite team, just whatever team is likeable, a bit of an underdog, and competitive. For example, last year it was the Indians/Rockies, and in 2006 was the Tigers. I guess you could say I'm a bandwagon fan when it comes to 2nd favorite teams.

In 2004 I was rooting for Boston in the playoffs, but now I despise them, because they aren't likeable nor are they underdogs anymore.

Chicago White Sox is definitely the second favorite. I just can't bear to watch any of their games. Outside of their announcers, coach and general manager, they really are a likeable team.

Plus, my wife is most likely the most dedicated Sox fan I have ever known.

Tribe. I have a bunch of friends from Cleveland and my cousin is a die-hard fan. I love Sizemore. Plus, the company I work for has the most amazing box of all-time, adjacent to the Indian's dugout with only a piece of glass seperating us from the them. 84' Cub Gary Varsho and I were next to each other and I professed my love for his (limited) role on my fave Cubs team.

My second favorite team is usually whatever long-time sucking team seems to be the current Cinderella. Right now it's Tampa Bay. A couple of years ago it was Detroit. When they suddenly started contending after decades of sucking it was Cleveland. I know that's bandwagoning, but I think that's acceptable for a second favorite team.

Didn't Varsho make his debut in '88?

When my favorite player growing up (Bill Buckner) got traded to Beantown, I became a big Red Sox fan and remain so to this day. I was at the Sunday night game when the Sox played the Cubs and it was a giant lovefest with both fan bases generally saying how much we all pull for each other. Now, I realize that success breads angst so some will dislike the BoSox for that, but I'll always pull for two of the classic franchises and hope they never tear down Wrigley or Fenway. Could this be the year both of my favorite teams play each other in October???

Angels for me too. Being in So Cal, most of my family are Dodger fans. I have to be rebellious.

Anyhow, the Big A is a FUN place to watch a baseball game and in 02 it was an experience when the Rally Monkey started. A true pop culture Phenonmen that is now about as tolerable as the Macerna.

I think you mean the Macarena.

Obviously it is hard to pull for any team but the Cubs, but I'd have to say my second favorite team is the A's. Mostly due to the fact that my older brother is a big Athletics can, but we never really play them outside of Spring Training, so it isn't hard to pull for them. I could never ever pull for any NL team, but it is fun to watch the A's game as well, and have a second team since they usually have the late night games and it is easy to watch them on MLB.tv or whatever else. Plus Oakland has always had really good young pitchers that are fun too watch, and I think it is incredible that they have been as successful as they have with such a limited budget. So my question to yall is if you have a second favorite team, who is it and why?

I've pulled for the A's in a small way ever since I read Moneyball

Since we've been to the Ballpark at Arlington the past few years, Ryne has taken a liking to the Rangers. Therefore, I've paid more attention to them as well.

So, it's the stRangers for me.

The team up until this year sucked as much as we did. I kinda drew myself to the Rays. All 10 of there fans I could sympathise with.
