  1. Well they haven't postponed it, so that's a good sign.
  2. Barring any trades, I'd say so. -They haven't said so but I think they'll try to get Soto some time at 1st which in turn gets enough PAs for Castillo -Campana over Sappelt since the better prospect should get to play in Iowa rather than rot on the MLB bench. -Really pulling for Samardzjia to make the rotation. The Cubs have plenty of RH 6th/ 7th inning options. Sorry, please continue patting yourselves on the back over Wells being terrible or whatever. I haven't been on this board in quite a while, but what are the chances of Rizzo being our opening day 1B? And if he isn't who is? Baker or Lehair? Either way it has to be one of the worst starting 1Bs ever. I'm very anti-Jeff Baker. Are we looking at something like? 1. RF- Dejesus 2. SS- Castro 3. CF- Byrd 4. C- Soto 5. LF- Soriano 6. 3B- Stewart 7. 1b- Baker 8. 2b- Barney 9. SP- Demp/Garza/Maholm/Wood/Volstad
  3. I know this game is on in regional coverage on MLBN. It is this game and Marlins/Astros. Does anyone have any idea if South Carolina will be showing this game or the Marlins game?
  4. Sorry I haven't kept up much with ST, have been busy with work and school, what is our projected lineup looking to be? Random Guess 1. Fukudome 2. Castro 3. Byrd 4. Ramirez 5. Pena 6. Soto 7. Soriano 8. Baker
  5. I know. Posey, Strasburg, Garcia and Heyward would all be shoe-ins any other year. It's like the Marino QB draft class. Aren't as many options in the AL. Jackson and Boesch are the only ones coming to mind. Carlos Santana has a shot too I guess. Who's been the best rookie pitcher in the AL?
  6. Who joins the rotation now that Lilly is out?
  7. Honest question. I know it is easy to argue what is better OBP or SLG. I know it is unreasonable to think this, but if a guy hits a home run every 5 at bats, but gets out all the other four, he is far, far more valuable than a guy who hits a single 2 out of every 5 at bats, even though that guy's OBP is double the other guys.
  8. I was just wondering if he was out of options? I'm sure I could find it somewhere, but not exactly where. The main reason I'm asking is because I just don't understand why he made the Opening Day Team. His numbers last year combined with his spring numbers this year are awful. I would have gone with Mitch Atkins. One more question, why did Jeff Gray only get one inning in the spring?
  9. What part of SC are you visiting? I live in Columbia. Hopefully you're visiting either Columbia or Charleston. Either way your visit should be fun. And to answer the question. I'll be at Opening Day. I forgot the section number, but it is RF bleachers. Going with 3 Braves fans. So excited.
  10. I don't expect us to address it, no. It would seem the Cubs are leaving the door open a crack and hoping that Starlin Castro force his way into the SS job in spring training, so we're leaving 2B open in case that happens. Fontenot isn't as bad as he was last year and he isn't as good as he was in 2008, though it seems we all have underrated his defense a bit. Baker isn't the answer, either. But he's a solid backup and can hit lefties fairly well. Given the available options at the moment, I'm happy enough with what can be assumed to be a decent platoon. And hey, if Castro isn't our starting SS and the platoon isn't working, there's always the trade market once teams start falling out of it. Yeah, but what worries me is we might be the team falling out of it.
  11. Like this the most. I want Lopez more than Hudson though. I think Lopez should hit lead off if we sign him though. Lopez has been too inconsistent for a multi-year deal, I think. If we could get him on a 1-year deal, I might have some interest, but generally he's only been a slight upgrade over Baker/Fontenot and wouldn't be enough of an upgrade for a 2-3 year deal. And that's assuming Baker's year last year was a complete fluke. I'd be much more interested in Hudson, but not on a big money deal. If we could get him for a 2-year, $5 million per year deal, I might consider it. Any more and I'd lose interest. I like them both more than Fontenot or Baker. I wouldn't mind either one. Lopez has loved playing the NL Central the past two years, granted both were in limited time.
  12. Are we addressing the 2B issue by any chance? Fontenot is awful IMO, and I seriously doubt Jeff Baker is the answer.
  13. Like this the most. I want Lopez more than Hudson though. I think Lopez should hit lead off if we sign him though.
  14. Great lineup. Still wondering if they are really gonna roll Martinez out there at C everyday. I guess when you have the money, you just sign the player no matter what. Man, baseball needs a cap. He'll probably DH when they face a lefty, but I imagine Youkilis gets the vast majority of starts at 1B... and if he has to fill in at 3B to cover a Beltre injury, you're probably looking at Kotchman getting the start more often than not. And I think you'd be shocked if you saw how little the Red Sox were actually paying. I know their payroll was actually lower than the Cubs last year at least. So they're going to platoon Ortiz?
