  1. It can be difficult some days with the interview but for every Drew Barrymore you also get a Vince Vaughn who was fantastic in the booth. So there are some good ones but more often than not it is just plain brutal to listen to.
  2. If only Lou would start driving in more runs, maybe hitting for better average. Maybe he could've caught that ball at 2nd that Miles muffed. Or he could have come in an thrown lefty instead of Cotts. Stupid Lou. His ejection in 2007 completely changed that season. I think we had the best record in the majors after that ejection. Why not try it again? He should have done it yesterday on that bang-bang play with Freel at 3rd base. So your contention is that the Cubs would start hitting the ball better, and pitching the ball better, and catching the ball better, and getting breaks and beating their opponent if only Lou would give his hat a few swift kicks? Hell it's worth a try aint it?
  3. How does that even compare? IF you don't swing at a pitch it's ur own darn fault. But if u hit one to the gap, which would be a guaranteed double. But the first step u take your achilies explodes and are unable to continue towards the base should u be credited with at least a single? Now the rulebook obviously says no, as one has to touch a base before the ball gets there. But really a hitter should be credited with a hit in that situation because you could never expect an injury like that. No, he shouldn't. Pitchers get hurt throwing pitches. Runners get hurt running. Fielders get hurt slamming into walls. It's a tough break, but you deal with it and move on. True, but if a pitcher throws a strike across the plate but throws out his elbow, he will still get credit for throwing a strike. Now my feelings don't matter a lick, but I just think it would be unfortunate for a player to hit the ball on the nose somewhere in a gap but still get called for an out because of a catastrophic injury. Baseball is such a hard game to play and hitting a baseball is so difficult, one should be credited for it when he does it. As Kyle pointed out, the pitcher in your scenario has fulfilled the requirement for throwing a strike. The hitter on the other hand has not met all requirements for getting a base hit. Therefore, he does not get a hit. Let's say they start giving hitters first base in the event of an injury. What if a hitter that isn't so fleet of foot hits a rocket that one hops the right fielder, and the right fielder, who has a cannon of an arm, has a play on that runner at first? What would prevent that hitter from falling down and faking an injury to be awarded first base? Injuries happen, and yes, it sucks when an injury turns a sure hit into an out. But it's part of the game. You have to reach base safely to get a hit. Your right, and my opinion doesn't matter. However if something way down the line changed and your scenario about someone faking an injury were to come about, I would say that if one is so injured they can't get to the base under their own power. I would say a mandatory and immediate trip to the 15 day dl. I would think that would discourage such things from ever happening. Be it the players on wish to play or the wrath of a really pissed off manager.

  6. Now that's a good start, lets get 8 more innings of that and I think we might scratch 1 run across the plate.
  7. Lou must have gotten hit in the head. I've defended him the last two years, but I don't know what the hell he's trying to do this year. well we've gotten what we've wanted for the last year, Lee is not batting 3rd and grounds out to Short. I really don't think it matters where he hits at this point.
  8. Your not crazy at all, I much prefer the Miller park experience compared to Wrigley. I get to Wrigley about twice a year and about 10 to 12 at miller. Nice stadium with crappy fans=good seats for me. Not to mention heckle them when the cubs have a 10 game lead in the division. Can a true Cub fan say that? I'm not saying that you can't be, I just wanted to ask the question. Um yea, just because I like Miller park more than Wrigley doesn't change the fact im a die hard cubs fan. There are several factors, price for one, also it takes 15 min to get on the highway compared to 2 hours leaving Wrigley. I love the history that is Wrigley and I do enjoy the games but I dono there's just something about Miller that I really like. I've been to the new Busch, the Juicebox, Arlington, and several more newer parks that I feel just muh about to so take that for what it's worth.

  10. How many does K-Zone miss? Or do camera angles affect a computer simulated RULEBOOK strikezone? What's the margin of error on K-zone? Honestly, I'm asking. A lot more accurate than umpires. Soo... you don't know? To answer your question K-zone is very accurate, in fact it can be to accurate. If the ball crosses the plate and is a strike it will catch it. However sometimes it's just unrealistic for instance on a sinking fast ball the ball is as low as it can get and crosses the very front tip of the plate at the lowest acceptable margin K-zone will call it. As the ball crosses the rest of the plate into the catchers glove it will be way to low and will never be called a strike, but because for the split second at the very front of the plate that pitch was in the zone it would be called a strike and it wouldn't matter if that pitch ended in the dirt. The same scenario can be said for curves and sliders that just barely catch a piece of the plate, those pitches can't be hit and won't be called strikes by the umpires.
  11. I love how Ronny goes OH YES...OH SH!T :-# =D> =D> \:D/ \:D/ :amen: :yahoo: :yahoo:
  12. Time to denounce Marquis and re endorse Marshall, cause it would be like 52 billon to 2 right now if that thing we call a 5th starter was pitching :D
  13. so we have to do everything for you? http://home.comcast.net/~bcvm22/cubs/8282008.mp3 You sir are a Saint! :amen: \:D/  :yahoo: This is such a fun ride it has to be our year!!
  14. On top of that, I know a lot of Cubs fans who go up to Milwaukee for a game just because they like baseball and it's cheaper and less of a hassle to get in and out of there. Not something measurable, but I'd guess probably another 40-50k ish contributed over the course of a season. I would like to add I did just this last tuesday when the Brewers played the astros. They have a nice facility easy access and exit. I had a blast up there decked out in my cub stuff. On top of that they lost the game which made it even better!
  15. Woody only is satisfied with striking people out not those no good grounders to 1st. Woody decides when and where he will make an effort! ;)
  16. Wait for a kid to beg for it, and then hit him in the head with it. thats so mean! But really if I ever got one, I would put it in a case set it on my desk and most likely try to get a few players to sign it. I mean the first one would mean alot to me after that it would be gravy but that first one would not collect dust.
  17. First off, im glad the boy is ok and has the courage to come back so soon to throw out the first pitch. But on to the other topic in this thread, call me cold hearted or what ever but I have never cought or even recived a foul ball or a homerun ball. So yes at 20 I still bring my glove to a game and if one comes my way im going to try and catch it, and if I do im keeping it.
  18. Rich has already pitched more innings this season than he has the last 2 combined. WHich aint much as I belive he only has 67 innings this year. Anyway he may be experiencing some dead arm as his body has to adjust to the wear. Didn't Lilly go through somthing like this earlier this season or at some point last season? While he is fragil as glass im not to worried about it.
  19. This may be a stupid question, but I just got off work and saw the clip for the first time. Was the camera shacking back and forth because of the retro day or because Wrigley was shacking from the crowd?
  20. The team up until this year sucked as much as we did. I kinda drew myself to the Rays. All 10 of there fans I could sympathise with.
  21. Figured this would be a good time for my first post, I live in freeport and this little field as brought a lot of good to the town. Been able to meet Santo twice becuase of the field and the volunters that helped build it did a great job.
