  1. Half of the posts on that website are about the Cubs! And their posters have the gall to suggest that it is Cubs fans who are obsessed about the White Sox? You barely ever see White Sox talk on this forum, or over on BleedCubbieBlue.com. Their moderators had to make a sub-forum exclusively for Cubs talk (the WHATS THE SCORE? section)!
  2. So even if Otto is subsequently let go you still won't listen? Wow, that's a lot of angst over a radio color man decision. Ron Santo being there was enough for me to not listen to Cubs games on WGN.
  3. A win is a win and I'll take it when we can get it, but my gosh, this series was just full of disappointment, and that 9th inning was too much of a nail biter.
  4. Agree... put a third guy in there with them. Not a fan of Ron. Don't wish ill will on him but I can't stomach listening to him or his moans when something bad happens.
  5. Scratch last post... found it here at Cubsworld.com: http://www.cubworld.com/product/59FIF65/Chicago-Cubs-1984-Freshman-59FIFTY-On-Field-Cap-by-New-Era.html
  6. I've never seen that particular hat before, but it is quite badass. I'm in Lids semi often - if I ever do see it, I would not hesitate to buy it.
  7. I think its great that most Cubs fans have a cherished love and bond with Wrigley... unfortunately, I just don't have it. My dad never took me to games as a kid, and now as an adult, I go a few times a year, and its a cool place, but I just don't have the special bond or attachment to it. I frankly only care about them winning.
  8. Larz of ChicagolandRadioandMedia.com wrote about blog about this the other day in regards to less games on WGN, and the Cubs getting their own network in the coming years. http://chicagoradioandmedia.com/component/content/article/233-blog-chicago-cubs-breaking-fans-hearts-and-the-season-hasnt-even-begun Afterwards, you'll have to checkout the message board for other reactions. Bruce Levin also wrote a blurb about the Cubs future in TV over at ESPNChicago.com.
  9. The Cubs logo spelled out in that road uniform is pretty sweet. I wouldn't mind seeing that replace the current circular UBS logo. I still vote to darken the shade of blue, but I am in the minority on that.
  10. Especially of late, I've noticed a lot more Cubs apparel being worn by people with the C and the little cub on the inside http://sean.keener.org/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/cubs-logo.JPG This as opposed to the traditional C with the "ubs" in the blue circle... http://images.paraorkut.com/img/pics/images/c/chicago_cubs_logo-12547.png I think the Cubs should ditch the "CUBS" logo and adapt the C with the little cub on all their apparel, including home jerseys? Anyone agree or disagree?
  11. They can do what they want with Wrigley. I go maybe, three or four times a year. Most of my enjoyment of watching Cubs baseball comes from the comfort of my own home or at the sports bar. That said, the aura of Wrigley Field, as neat as it may be, has meant nothing as far as the team winning championships go. The ball park is hyped by fans as being this mecca, yet, the Cubs have yet to win a World Series since they began playing there. I'm not taking away the experience and the fact that so many people enjoy it - to me, I care more about having a consistent winner each year. Some of the new stadiums are pretty nice. I wouldn't mind the Cubs starting new, winning traditions in a new park.
  12. I don't understand how network execs hire their announcers. I was thinking during yesterday's Yankees-Twins game if the people who hire these announcers really like or understand sports and know what a good announcer entails. I was walking a Sunday baseball game on TBS earlier this year and I realized how bad Chip was. Back when he was with the Cubs, I was younger and didn't know as much, so I didn't mind him.
  13. Bought super cheap tickets for tomorrow's game, assuming the weather cooperates. It will be my first time sitting in the bleachers section, which were only $5. Other tickets for the upper deck were available for a dollar, some as low as forty-five and fifty cents. I'm only going tomorrow just to kind of let it out and enjoy one final game before the end of the season.
  14. Half the words coming from Ozzie's mouth are absolutely nonsense. It's sometimes hard to take him seriously. That said, he brings a lot of passion and heart, I believe, and there are clearly some managers in baseball who would benefit if they had half the heart he had.
  15. yeah... 1) Plunk down the money on an authentic '84 sandberg jersey. 2) get the patch sewn on by an expert 3) buy tickets for spring training next season 4) hang out at the minor league complex each morning, corner sandberg and get him to sign the jersey. 5) frame it and either keep it forever or sell it at a profit, even given all the above expense. Yeah.... I'm not quite sure anything else could ever top that idea Tim. The '84 Sandberg jersey is pretty sweet and I did see it two weeks ago at the Cubs store over at Woodfield Mall. As for number five, there's no way I'd ever sell that.
