If this actually happens, I'm not sure whom I would shoot first... Lou, Hendry, or myself.

If Corey continues to suck or gets hurt, I could see Dusty going after him.

Hire Jim Essian summed it up pretty well.

Just for you, Jim, I’ve compiled a list of things I would rather do than watch Jim Edmonds fake hustle his way around center field at Wrigley.

1. Record over my copy of The Big Lebowski with Anchorman.

2. Drink Jim Hendry’s bathwater out of Scott Eyre’s cup.

3. Call Carlos Zambrano a “sissy little girl who fights like a Barrett.”

4. Be Ryan Dempster’s joke editor.

5. Pay Mark Prior to pitch.

6. Start a business with the It’s Gonna Happen guy.

7. Listen to the entire series of Pat Hughes/Ron Santo Square D commercials on a continuous loop.

8. Let Chad Fox pitch in every bases-loaded situation for the rest of the year.

9. Root for the White Sox.

10. Stumble drunk down a dark alley in which Ted Lilly lurks.

I wouldn't mind if the Cubs signed Edmonds if he would accept a minor league invite to see if he still has any thing left in the tank.

And then keep him in the minors and never give him a chance and laugh maniacly.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the Cubs "are exploring the possibility" of signing Jim Edmonds.

Let go by the Padres last week, Edmonds' arrival would send Felix Pie back to Triple-A. He batted .178/.265/.233 in 26 games with the Padres, whereas Pie is hitting .222/.286/.286 through 29 games, and Edmonds is 15 years older.

I just may puke.

This just can't happen.

ah, more mod-tolerated gay jokes about Edmonds. gotta love it

It's not a joke though to the best of my knowledge...

This would be an incredible waste of time and resources (not to mention Pie's talents). That probably means it will happen.

So homophobia's cool then, just so long as the target actually is a homosexual?

I'm not sure which one expresses my feelings the best. :banghead:   :worried:

Maybe this one's the best. :rotfl:

I must have missed the offensive joke. I don't personally have any problem with homosexuality.

If the Cubs sign Edmonds, I'll wear a half-shirt and mascara for that day just to honor the occasion.

and that would be different than one of your usual days how, again . . .???

(I KID! I KID!) :)

The last post quoted is the first one in this thread that is actually offensive.

It's also cool if you're too young to understand what's going on.

Agreed. Sign him to a minor league contract, and give him 2 weeks to show he still has game left in that body. If he doesn't, simply released him. His poor start with San Diego, maybe coincides with him declining, or the fact that San Diego sucks. Give me a 1-2 weeks minor league assignment, and see if he has anything left. If he doesn't, no harm, no foul.

So he might be sucking because the Padres aren't good or the City of San Diego blows? Edmonds' decline began long before going to San Diego. His 05 was a notch below his best years, 2006 was unimpressive and 2007 was horrible.

Well when you earlier said "It's not a joke though to the best of my knowledge", what exactly is "it" that isn't a joke to the best of your knowledge?

Given the context, it sure sounded as though you were suggesting that the lame gay jokes that Derwood was originally commenting about are OK, since Edmonds actually is gay.

If that interpretation is incorrect, then I apologize.

Regardless of Edmonds' actual orientation, however, the gay jokes are still lame and offensive.

No. Only as long as the target is actually Edmonds and only Edmonds.

Good idea in theory, but with the present day Chad Fox nightmare going on, I don't really trust this organization to cut bait.
