His already not too popular restaurant here in St. Louis is surely going to become even less popular now that he's playing for the Cubs. Cards fans aren't really happy about this either.

what are you talking about...theyre foing great...i have two friends working there and there jammin...

Just curious, but what line would Edmonds have to post to make people happy here. I know it will be different for everyone based on their level of hatred for the guy. If he could replicate his 2006 line playing only against righties I would be happy.

1.000/1.000/4.000/5.000

Not good enough.

I'll boo him no matter how he does. When (more like if) he does good for our team, I'll be happy inside, but I'm still booing him.

oh i'll applaud him if he does well. i don't care if i hated him when he was on the cardinals; he was a great player and i would've been thrilled to have that sort of production out of our center fielder. i'll boo him now because he's washed up and can neither hit nor field well any more.

just kinda brainstorming out loud here, but if edmonds is indeed washed up, maybe we can see if brian mcrae or lance johnson have anything left in the tank?

I hear Stan Musial's available.

I would love to see if Davey Martinez still has anything left.

Here's my take on it: Pie has to stay in the minors at least ten days (unless coming back earlier to replace an injured player). So Edmonds has ten days to show if he has anything left in the tank. If he doesn't the Cubs can release him without sacrificing much (just a prorated share of the major league minimum salary) and bring Pie back. I don't really like the move, but it's very low risk and not the end of the world.

Do you have faith in the cubs to do that? I think they give Edmonds every chance to succeed. In other words, much more than 10 ballgames.

Well, Iowa is in a tight division race right now.

I'll tell, as a Cards fan I hate seeing him as a Cub. But as a Jim Edmonds fan, it is a really good situation for him. Gets him out of PetCo and into a more neutral park. As much as you guys like Pie, for good reason, I really think that Edmonds will be a productive player if he is indeed platooned.

Pie, Marshall, Hill, Murton, Ascanio, Hart, Cotts.

That's quite a list of players I'd rather have on the 25 man roster than players that are currently on it. (Murton instead of Johnson, and they could use Cedeno/Fukudome as back up CF. Ascanio, Hart, Cotts instead of Fox.)

My really good friend loves this signing. He thinks Edmonds is going to hit .250 with a lot of big hits since Pie can't consistently come through in the clutch.

I'm excited only because I love when we get new players in the middle of the season. Yes I can already hear the replies in my head. But it's low risk and Lou will NOT stick with him for too long if he doesn't find his stroke (<- that's a joke right there I beat you to it by noting it, so don't even try)

I for one, as long as Edmonds behaves himself, will welcome him as a Cub. Hey, anyone who wants to stick it to the cards (<- that's a joke too so don't try it here either), is a friend in my book.

I know you want to poke fun, but would anyone be complaining if he had the opportunity to show off a half shirt the same way he did last time?

Posted

Yes. Fashion before function. I'll give him one of my old Under Armour compression shirts so nobody has to worry though.

Edit: kidding of course. It's just a fun picture to laugh at.

Maybe the most underrated player in baseball history. Had he played in New York or Boston he'd be a deity like Mantle or Williams.

1815 hits at home...1815 hits away. 3 MVP awards and 4 second place finishes. Dude had some serious game.
