  1. When Milly swept the 4 from the Cardinals, that was as much if not more the fault of the bullpen that had gas cans on the end of their arms in 3 of those losses than Braun or what not.. No discounting they won, but the Cards BP was at its worse that series. Its definitly been improved markedly since. Who wins the two games? You just never know.
  2. Yeah - shut those guys down. I mean, when's the last time they won a championship? Oh, never mind. Maybe we shouldn't throw stones... Touche, but at least the Cubs hace fans and a ownership that tries. PIT is just stupid. And lets talk KC at the same time.
  3. MLB really needs to shut PIT down. Storied (somewhat) franchise but no support and small time owner. Very sad really for an old line team.
  4. Congrats onm figuring that out! Tell him what he's won Gene...
  5. Its alwasy a pleasure to visit NSBB during the big series. Two great wins by the Cubs. Wow. Im looking forward to meeting two my friends who are Chicago natives and of course die hard Cub fans for the game tonight. Although, may of you here will be disaappointed to learn they are rationale in their approach as fans. THe fun part is I now have another reason to add to the list as to why the Cardinals are performing well. Let's see, now I ass Facing crappy pitching, the infamous Pixie Dust (alwasy love that one), overachieving (an annual favorite), easy schedule, Luck (the default reason), am I missing any others. Cant wait to share these tonight. All tounge-in-cheek, guys. But people say the craziest things here. Oh and by the way, dont concern yourself with the Cardinals schedule. Milwauke only has 19 games remaining with sub-500 teams. Yikes. And another thing, rehab for Tommy John is prescribed at a year, and pitchers have returned in shorter time. Carpenters arm wont fall off tonight! Have fun!!! Well, this is one of the stupidest posts I've seen in a long time. Congradulations. Instead of making counter points, you instead decide to post this garbage. But hey, I guess I shouldnt be surprised. I've heard all this crap from Cardinal fans for years and years now. A riot!! Weve heard the same from you for years...but theres a big BIG differnce...I wont say it to bum you out...Too funny...this is too easy. Ya try to engage decent conversation and it always turns into DIE CARDINALS...what are the ages of posters here anyway?
  6. Thats an insane thing to say. I hope you get help for that.
  7. I hope he walks off the mound tonight holding his shoulder and fighting back tears like Mark Mulder as he realizes that his career us over. That took long. Not! So if he sucks tonight, he goes back to rehab plan. If he does good, you build from there. Not hard to figure out. We'll just keep on doing whats needed to win WS championships either way. Stuff happens.
  8. Wikipedia or Google can be your friend. Thats where I found that your guy Dempster came back at twelve months with success, Kerry Wood had more velocity after 7, many more examples. Just wishing a guys arm falls off because you hate the team and all doesnt make that statement correct automatically. I did hear on the radio that Carpenter will have two pockets full of pixie dust tonight, instead of the traditional one.

  10. mul21..good stuff. We could go around in circles all day. What the experts and Cub fans miss is, no body on this end are saying those you named the best players in the league. On the contrary, calling some of them trash, and all the luck comments are foolish. So a guy was stick in the minors because LaRussa prefers the name vets over young players...well that has changed drastically. His hand has been forced that way as the team committed to rebuilding the farm and longer term organizational development. The old veteran style worked for and against us, and it will to anyone. And maybe a guy is dectn ballplayer but just was on a poor team, poorly managed whatever. Point is because someone isnt top of the list, or a name you dont know, its foolish to be so dismissive. Except for the blind loyalty of a fan. Everyone rants about the Cards pitching every year. If they bothered to learn why a former average/mediocre pitcher improves here. Two words...Dave Duncan. He gives those guys a complete pitch by pitch game plan for every batter, every game. If the pay attention, the excel. He gets them to pitch to the ground ball. If not (see J. Marquis) they fail. When he leaves, we are screwed big time and will have to buy the names like everyone else. Anyway. The Brewers have built a solid core and now are gonna buy the parts to maybe make it work. On paper, scary yes. But it all has to work together, otherwise its just a colelction of high priced babeball cards.
  11. Agree with the poster saying basically the Cubs just need to take care of their own business (same for other teams). Question, with what the Cubs have at #1 and #2 pitcher, what if/when Cubs play the Brew....would you feel good about a split of a four game series. Kind of hard to say depending how the pitch matchups get set up.
  12. Its the same comments, year after year. Its more funny than it is annoying. Hey I understand being a superfan for your team, but these comments come off making the author sound silly and not well informed. Yeah Im a Cardinal fan. Sometimes you find relevant debate and information, more often you dont, like the above. On that note, what would say to a four gamer with the Brew, now with the improved top of your rotation. Going in would you take a split and move on (depending how the rotations are set up)? Four gamers are a pain usually. Good luck everyone.
  13. Actually look forward to the remaining Cub StL games. Cards were very flat offensively the last series, so you would expect that not to be the case next time. Yes, agree on 'paper' Cubs should win at home, so everybody believes and expects. I just wouldnt sell anybody short...this early anyway. Especially someone who does a lot of winning year in year out. Very flat offensively or the Cubs pitchers made the cardinals look pathetic, handcuffing them all weekend except for the Kerry Wood blown save, I mean I guess sure they were "flat" when you are going against good pitching. Oh yeah the Cubs did pitch very well. Though the Cards bats were down leading in to the series, just a fact. Its crops up some this year, they cant hit a lick and then get back to timely hitting. But they have had hitting slumps to be sure.
  14. Then you obviously saw a pathetic Padres team make errors, not run the bases with any brains, blow 5 run leads and then when they actually do something right, they hit liners right to Pujols. Yup, pixie dust was a flyin this weekend. So is that to say the better team that didnt make as many mistakes and hit better should lose those games? That makes no sense at all.
