I'm creating a list of players I'd rather see us sign than Jim Edmonds.

No fair, most of those guys wouldn't be played if they were signed, they'd just be wastes of roster spaces. Edmonds is much, much worse than your list

haha, edmonds owns and this stretch is going to be a glorious time to be a cub fan amongst whiny meatball cub fans.

owns what?

A large collection of belly shirts, and assorted eyeliners.

His already not too popular restaurant here in St. Louis is surely going to become even less popular now that he's playing for the Cubs. Cards fans aren't really happy about this either.

Amidst all of this belly-aching, what I like is the idea that Edmonds could help the Cubs beat the Cardinals for a division title and the Cards will be paying him much more money to do it than we will.

I'll stay optimist about the move until proven otherwise...there really is no downside to the move other than he was a pud while on the Cards...then again so was Rodman before he joined the Bulls.

Here's hoping for a failed physical. Barring that, no point in fighting. Welcome aboard, Jim Edmonds. It would've been nice if you were here like 4-5 years ago when you were still good at life.

Oh, and Sulley, I like the Bierce quote. The Unabridged Devil's Dictionary is my toilet reader. Nice choice.

I'm in the acceptance stage. I've come to accept that he will be on the team and I will root for him. Hopefully, he still has some magic Cardinal pixie dust on him and hits well for us.

Just curious, but what line would Edmonds have to post to make people happy here. I know it will be different for everyone based on their level of hatred for the guy. If he could replicate his 2006 line playing only against righties I would be happy.

If he could put something up like .275/.375/.475 or something around those numbers I'll be happy. If he puts up .265/.350/.450 I'll accept it. Anything less and I'll be a little ticked

This is like signing Garvey after '84. That's what it feels like to me.

But that's OK. I can be big about this. I'll cheer for him if he plays good.

If he could put up .270/.350/.450 or somewher in that neighborhood I'll be fine with him being in there against the righties. Much less than that and he has to go, and quickly.

Also, somebody mentioned in the game thread that vance had a meltdown in this thread. Either it's not here any more or I was seriously misled.
