Pie deserved to get benched for those ABs, quit guessing out there. Plus, he's not getting a good visual on the ball quick enough.

Yeah, why give a young player a chance to learn from his mistakes.

If he's smart, he's learning from them right now.

Agreed. We gave him an extended look last year and he sucked then, so this isn't necessarily a sample size issue. You can't play the young guys just for the sake of playing them, they have to at least show something out there.

That's coming off incredibly Dustyish, I imagine.

Well I don't want to bench him yet it's too early. But I'm starting to become......concerned.

Yes, cause that's what it's about.

200 ABs is "an extended look?" Good thing the Cubs didn't have ARod, because his .225/.259/.330 in his first 200 ABs would have gotten him released.

No kidding. Not to mention those 200 at bats came really spread out

Ditto. I'm beginning to wonder at what point this team starts to realize it's horrific at developing plate discipline in its own prospects. When I look at Geovany Soto, I'm still in shock that he was drafted out of HS and managed to keep some semblance of discipline as he moved along.

When I look at everyone else, on the other hand, I'm not nearly as surprised.

I'm not for benching Pie for Johnson as far as starting, but there are various teaching methods and sometimes punishment as a method has to be exercised.

I don't care if you're 17 or 37, damn well better know to take the bat off your shoulder with 2 strikes if it's close. He's looking FB and gets curve and looks curve and gets a FB, he should be reacting at this stage.

Yeah, who cares about improving your chances of winning.

It's not a matter of benching him perminantly. But when he's looking that foolish out there and getting overmatched in just about every AB, he needs to sit down for a bit.

Pie still has talent, and I'm there is no way I'm giving up on him after 200+ ABs
