So that means you can't dedicate one day out of a 200 day season to honor one of the most important people not only in the game of baseball but in the development of tolerance in our country? Are you serious?

I'm all for honoring the dude. Give every player in the majors jersey patches if you want to. I just don't see the point in retiring the number if it's going to be allowed to be worn. I know it's a different issue, but I'd be ticked if a Bull wore MJ's 23 no matter what the intent was.

Do you know who Jackie Robinson is?

Thank you for addressing the point. I know full well who Jackie is. He deserves honoring. But if you're retiring a number league-wide, retire it 365 days a year, not 364. You might as well let people wear it year-round anyway - that's what a lot of people were doing before Bud retired it.

My question absolutely addressed the point. While Michael Jordan and Jackie Robinson were both greats in their respective sport, thats where their similarities end. Its completely ignorant to try to make that analogy. They aren't honoring Jackie Robinson for being an awesome baseball player, they are honoring him for breaking the color barrier in modern baseball and his influence on American society to end segregation.

I think Johnson is gonna start getting more at bats

I know it's not a popular POV around here, but if Pie keeps looking like he has, Johnson SHOULD get more AB's... we can't keep having an automatic out in Pie's spot, especially w/ Theriot in the lineup as well.

It's less than 25 ABs, isn't it?

Pie deserved to get benched for those ABs, quit guessing out there. Plus, he's not getting a good visual on the ball quick enough.

Yeah, why give a young player a chance to learn from his mistakes.

I'm hoping he'll figure some things out but he really looks off balance tonight. Actually I was hoping last night would spark something, but it doesn't look like it did.

Agreed. We gave him an extended look last year and he sucked then, so this isn't necessarily a sample size issue. You can't play the young guys just for the sake of playing them, they have to at least show something out there.

That's coming off incredibly Dustyish, I imagine.
