Never before has there been so much unfunny, beaten to death humor in one place as this.

The Orioles, still looking for a center fielder, shortstop, left-handed reliever and closer, expect to decide by the end of the month whether they will trade Roberts and left-hander Erik Bedard. Don't be surprised if Cubs right-hander Jason Marquis is part of a package for Roberts — the Orioles value his innings, and other clubs also have expressed interest in Marquis since the Cubs' signing of Jon Lieber.

Trading away Marquis might be the best part of any Roberts deal if it happened.

marquis was pretty lucky last year. if we could somehow pawn him off on someone who actually thinks he has value, please for the love of God get rid of him.

His ERA was under 5 last season. The Orioles don't have many guys like that.

yeah unfortunately for them, marquis' era won't be below 5 this year.

Shhh, don't tell them that.

With Marquis salary being what it is, do you think we would be taking back Payton or someone as well?

I'm hoping we don't get stuck with Payton because I'm not really sure what he exactly does well. I would would much prefer Huff for right field with Fuko going to center or Kevin Millar for right handed punch off the bench.

He hits lefties fairly well. A career .803 OPS vs lefties is better than Pie will give this season (or possibly ever).

He does hit lefties better, but he's still a .280 career hitter overall, can play all 3 OF positions, and he has a .457 career AVG at Miller Park.

I'd take him as a throw-in in a trade for Roberts and/or Bedard, but I'm not sure I'd trade for him outright - he'd probably cost too much.

He definitely has value though.

Yeah, same here. If we had to take him back in a Roberts trade, I'd have no problem with it. However, I would not make a trade with the intent of him being the main peice we get in return.

What he does well is keep us from trading for Marlon Byrd.

FWIW -- Bruce was on Sports Central earlier this evening and reiterated his claim that there was never a 7-for-2 deal on Angelos' desk, and that those rumors were unsubstantiated from the beginning.

I don't think Hendry would announce a deal this week due to the Wuertz signing. Probably Monday at the earliest.

they were going to announce the deal tonight, but, you know, Heath Ledger....

what is with the paperclip on the thread title now?

Someone "attached" a picture instead of hosting it offsite. It's a new feature on phpbb3.

My bad...

pretty cool though

IMO this is the best thread in NSBB history.

If it keeps going like this, it may soon be the only thread in NSBB history.

Never before has a thread's content been as much about the thread than it's supposed topic. It's become a blob-like movie monster feeding on itself, expanding, soon to absorb all other threads past and present. I love it.

Good ole Spaceballs. One of my favorite parody movies.

I don't know if there is any easy way to find out, but I wonder how many members have posted in this thread?

A better question is, how many members don't remember if they have or have not have posted in this thread.

Or how many new members have been added SINCE this thread was started..haha.
