Lord knows the validity of this, and not that it matters one bit in the big picture, but found this interesting, no less. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/333618-carlos-zambrano-comes-out-of-the-closet
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Gov. Charlie Crist is trying to persuade the Chicago Cubs to move their spring training facilities from Arizona to Florida. Crist met with Cubs president Crane Kenney, chairman Tom Ricketts and other team officials about possibly moving from Mesa to Naples. Crist says he's willing to go as far as possible to woo the team. Crist says, "We like palm trees better than cactus and hope that the Cubs might too." Ricketts says "it's really about getting the best facility." Kenney says if the move is made, the team would likely relocate its Class A Florida State League team from Daytona to the new stadium.
Note the source, so take it for what it's worth, but Steve Stone mentioned on Boers and Bernstein this afternoon that the Hardy for Gomez deal raises the possibility of the Cubs being able to get Cameron. Really not sure what I think about this one.
Anyone else going down for this game? We'll be tailgating at Longworth Hall starting around 9:30 or 10:00... PM me if anyone else is going to be down there and wants to grab a cold one or 12! GO BEARS!
At this moment Z has a higher OPS than Soto, Fontenot, Theriot, Soriano, and is neck and neck with Bradley. Those with a higher OPS than Z... Lee, Aram, Fox, Fuld, Fukudome, Baker, Scales.
Mesa shares its side of the story.... This may get interesting... http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/143436 http://www.azcentral.com/community/mesa/articles/2009/08/25/20090825mr-cubs0826.html
A city of Mesa's size certainly should be able to find the financial means to keep the Cubs, and quite honestly, needs to do so, before another city, whether it be in Arizona or Florida sweeps in. Mesa needs the Cubs for their economic impact far more than the Cubs need Mesa, so a move to a city that proves to be the highest bidder is indeed a possibility.
I know it's been discussed, but not so seriously, perhaps, until now. The following from a Fort Myers area TV station. Complete story here... http://www.abc-7.com/Global/story.asp?S=10981699
It should actually be clearing out in the next 30 minutes or so. The question becomes how bad the OF is. 6-8 inches of rain in a matter of hours could potentially overwhelm even the best of drainage systems. Officially, Cincinnati has only received about 1.10" of rainfall today. I don't know how they missed it all then. It was one of the worst storms I have ever seen up here (usually that bad of rain is not accompanied with that violent of a storm as well), and it was equally as bad or worse in Louisville. I know SE Indiana also got hit especially hard so I'm shocked that Cincy would have received that little of a rainfall total. Not to get all technical and all and get off topic -- but thunderstorms are very selective in where the heaviest rain is distributed. There've been many occasions in which the North side of Chicago will get next to nothing from a storm, while the South side gets pummeled, or vice versa. Many times, the heavy rain corridor is only about 2-3 miles wide, even less at times. So I guess, all things considered, Cincy got lucky.

Remember earlier on when someone was making light that Lee led our team with 41 RBI? He might catch Fielder by the end of the night at this pace! \:D/ \:D/ \:D/
