Haven't you been paying attention? It's now about a blockbuster Santana-Lincecum-Cain-Bedard-Roberts-Griffey-Crawford-ARod for Patterson-Murton-Cedeno-Gallagher-Marshall-Lieber-Colvin trade

Man, I'm glad we're going to get this done without giving up Pie and Hill..... Hendry truly is amazing.

Yeah, but is Griffey that much of an upgrade over Pie?

He's at least a marginal upgrade over Pie, maybe even a significant upgrade - it just depends on what you define marginal and significant as.

He's definitely not a minor upgrade, though.

I'm currently working on a blockbuster trade that involves every team outside of the NL Central, except the Cubs, and involves 142 players. The Cubs are going to be a very good team.

It's near completion. Check back regularly and refresh often.

Didn't you start working on this a few days ago?

Just needed to re-up my commitment to the greatest thread ever.

Seriously though, I'm thinking no more major moves before opening day. Would have probably happened by now. Pitchers & Catchers are about to report, everyone's getting ready for ST. Very little chatter out there other than the odd rumor here & there. I think this is it.

Despite Hendry saying "I wish I could be talking to you with us done, but unfortunately that's not the case"?

He's been talking for months now though.

17 hours since the last post? I'm not going to let that happen.

Brian Roberts had a horrible game last night.

I pulled out MLB2k7 last night, and he's only ranked an 82.

I really don't know why we're trying to trade for an 82.

The very first thing the Reds should do is try an trade Griffey for ANYTHING they can get, literally. He has ZERO value as a player. He is worse than replacement level. IOW, if you could trade him to another geam, get NOTHING in return and subsidize 90% of his salary, that would be a net gain for the Reds".

MGL has his UZR as -15, arm at -5, baserunning at -4, and offense as +4.

So he is 3 wins BELOW an average RF'er, which is around 1 win BELOW REPLACEMENT, by far the worst full-time player in baseball and possibly one of the worst full-time players of all time.

I got Cabrera and Roberts through trades on my MLB2k7 and I just won the series. So, yeah. This trade will go down in the next 2-3 days. The paperwork is being filed and will be with Selig in a few days.

He's like a -20 defensive CF these days. Pie's at least +10. If we assume a .295 EqA for Griffey (hes done that once in the least four years) and assume a gets enough PT for 400 outs (he hasn't topped that figure in the last NINE seasons), as long as Pie EqA's .250 it's a tie. In other words, if Pie hits like Ryan Theriot he's an upgrade over Griffey in CF.

See I don't hate Pie.

Purely out of curiousity, what is Mark DeRosa rated?

Meph's post reminded me to clarify that MGLs quotes are based on Griffey as a RF, although any marginal positional offensive gain by moving to CF is going to be offset by the marginal defensive loss.

Here is what Keith Law thinks about the Cubs

Keith Law: (1:07 PM ET ) The Cubs don't have the young players needed to acquire Santana or, for that matter, Bedard.

Kevin (Manassas): You would not take Pie, Veal, Cedeno, Patterson, Colvin, and Gallagher or some combination close to that for Bedard?

Keith Law: (1:16 PM ET ) That's a pile of stuff - quantity, but not quality. And while I like Pie's tools, his value is slightly diminished because 1) his MLB performance in '07 wasn't great and 2) the Cubs have made it seem like they don't like him. Gallagher's a 4th starter type. Colvin, Cedeno, and Patterson are bench guys. Adding more names isn't the key - the key is replacing three extra guys in that offer with one impact guy. The Cubs can't do that right now.

I don't see how pretty much naming him the opening day starting CF at 23 years old is making it seem like they don't like him.

Keith Law also thinks Moustakas was the 11th best player in last year's draft.

He really said that? I don't see anyway he's that low with his raw stuff and good debut.
