These O's insiders seem to be doing a lot of hinting about Pie possibly being in the deal

Yep. :?

Are people still considering them to be "insiders"?

I dont' think anybody in their right mind considers them "insiders" any longer. I suppose if each of us wanted to pretend like we had inside info and posted vague hints that there may/ or may not be a deal in the near future, we would bound to be right sooner or later.

lawl, a Cubs fan over there said that Marmol is almost as valuable as Bedard right now.

Rrrrrrrright.

Lots of interesting statements over there right now. That same Cubs fan said that he wouldn't trade Marmol, but he'd be happy to trade Pie, Hill, Gallagher, Cedeno, Murton, Patterson, and Dempster for Roberts and Bedard :D

And an Orioles fan said that he couldn't take Patterson because he wasn't a legitimate prospect, so he'd demand Fontenot instead :D.

Eh, just realized that he's a poster over here too. DeuceBaseman

My bad, man. But it was a pretty ridiculous statement. On no planet is Marmol anywhere near as valuable as Bedard.

The O's trade of Bedard would signal a major rebuilding process in which a trade of second baseman Brian Roberts would likely follow. The Cubs remain heavily interseted in Roberts, and the O's return would be another package of prospects, possibly including pitcher Sean Gallagher, Felix Pie and another prospect.

Gallagher and Pie? That would be a terrible deal.

Horrible beyond belief. In defense of Rosenthal though (which.....I really shouldn't be trying to defend him, but oh well), the entire quote is just throwing names out there, not suggesting it's going to be Gallagher and Pie together.

It's funny how massively tall of a horse some of the people who don't buy into the insiders are on here. You don't believe them. You think they're just making stuff up and have a bunch of idiots hanging at their every word. We get it.

There's also a lot of "we're not going to trade you Marmol" going on there, too.

Pet peeve of mine, but as far as I know, unless there are members of the Cubs front office on these boards, no one has the power to make decisions about player movement. Fans should recognize that they are not part of the Cubs organization. It would go a long way towards minimizing many of the ridiculous statements made by fans about players' values.

Ummm have you seen Marmol pitch?? He is not as valuable as Bedard but he is close. Meaning that there is NO WAY I would trade Pie, Marmol and the others for Bedard and Roberts. Marmol is more valuable to us than Pie, or hill, or vitters. If you put Marmol in our rotation he is ahead of Hill. Plus like 5 years younger. But I would trade Pie, Hill, Murton, Cedeno, Colvin, Patterson, and Dempster for Bedard and Roberts.

OK, I'll start. My guy has mentioned that a certain Cubs pitcher might either get traded/resigned/released/win a game/strike somebody out/go on the DL at some point this year. Take it with a grain of salt though..

I find it mildly humorous how invested you are in defending these guys, david.

I point it out when I think people are way off base. Do you honestly think these guys are just making stuff up, got it right a couple times, gained a following, and then convinced the site admin (who went through his own "sources," whatever they may be) to post a BS story on the site's main page and completely risk the credibility of that website? Obviously, the site admin believed he had concrete info when they posted that report up (which had been confirmed independently of the inside posters). He didn't just put it on the front page of the site on a hunch.

I just think it's [expletive] and far more far-fetched to think that it's some kind of elaborate hoax is all.

I think it's kind of like buying a signed baseball on E-Bay. Of course there is the chance it's fake, but if you just don't spend time stressing out about whether it is authentic or not it will bring you the same enjoyment whether or not it is real. I don't know if these guys are true "insiders" or not, but they come up with some good stuff that it fun to read and it is a lot better then just sitting around waiting for an official press release about a trade.

You're probably someone who thinks Hill is almost as good as Bedard. Would you trade Hill, Pie, Murton, Cedeno, Patterson, Gallagher, and Dempster for Bedard and Roberts?? I would in a second. But if you take out Hill's name and put in Marmol, I'd have to think about that a little longer. I'm not saying I wouldn't do it, but I wouldn't want to do it.

I think I found the the place that originated this dreadful rumor:

You should spend a little more time reviewing Hill's numbers then get back to everyone about why you think he is so expendable. Marmol did a great job last year but no way IMO an eight innning set up guy is going to be as valuable as a solid starting pitcher over the course of a season.

I'm guessing you clicked the wrong quote button, but I'd say I can't disagree with this at all.

It's pretty funny. I saw a lot of it going on at RealGM when the Kobe rumors were flying around ("Will you guys give us Deng if we include Kwame?"). It's one thing to refer to your team as "we" as though you're part of the team, it's quite another (and moronic) thing to act like you make decisions for that team.

This is the same type of attitude that results in people thinking "if fans stop going to games, the team's gonna have to really try to win the World Series!"

The sooner the average fan realizes they have virtually zero impact on the organization for whom they cheer, everyone will be a lot better off.

Wow you guys are rough. Getting mad at fans for saying "we" as in the cubs. Calm down guys. We have no access to the front office but we are dying to know what is going on and what is holding up the deals. Cub fans would love to trade Gallagher, Murton and Cedeno for Roberts. Most of the Orioles fans want that trade as well, so we are all confused to why it hasnt happened yet. So in the mean time while we are bored, we like to try and figure out what is goin on in the front office, thus we use "we". I think that "we" are the cubs and that is fine. I'm a big enough cubs fan to feel it is alright to use the Cubs as "we". It is not a big deal so stop making it one.

Yeah, I don't think they were pulling a hoax. But they were crying all sorts of "deal done" and other crap while being directly contradicted by everyone else on the planet. You do that and you're wrong? You destroyed your own credibility and you've got no one to blame but yourself.
