notre dame and ball state are on a plateau all their own, though.

i mean, we'd need someone in here who really really cares about their d-3 school in order to trump those 2.

Andy isn't the only Ball State fan around here.

Right. I graduated from Ball State, and there are at least a couple of other posters (Photoguy and, I believe, Doug Dascenzo) who went to BSU. We're everywhere. :D

SIU hosts #24 St. Mary's tonight. We need a win in the worst way possible and a quality win over a good team would be icing on the cake.

So far, so good.

We had a bit of a lull in the 2nd half where St. Mary's cut the lead to 3, but Mullins and Shaw really put the game away.

I know it's early, but St. Mary's was #1 in the land in the RPI rankings, so hopefully their RPI can stick in the top 50 the whole year. Very good win for us that hopefully will get us back on the right track.

penn state beat the fearsome princeton tigers (princeton is BAD this year) 61-38. The score at halftime? 26-11.

Princeton has now scored 23 points total in their last two first halves.

Arkansas put it on UT-San Antonio tonight, 67-42. Patrick Beverley had 10 points and 13(!!!) rebounds. Patrick Beverley is a 6'1" guard on a team that has six players 6'8" and up.

Nebraska knocked off #16 Oregon in OT. haha Oregon

Nebraska's students stormed the court in celebration. haha Nebraska

Oregon was clearly one of, if not the, most overrated team in the nation coming into this season. See 2003 Oregon.

I saw Princeton play in the Maui Invitational. Saying they are a dreadful team would be putting it nicely.

I think the Big XII might have been a bit underrated this year. (Count me as guilty, too.)

let's just make a separate thread for the illinois fans so they can read about their important program there, and we can discuss our little insignificant schools in this one

How's Kyle Cruze doing this year?

kentucy is not going to make the tournament this year.

Bad, bad, bad. They lack an identity and that's the wrong type of team for Gillespie.

Ummm... have you even watched Kentucky play? Without Jasper and Meeks, of course they lack identity. Any team that hs to start kids like Coury and Porter would lack identity.

Don't get me wrong, I HATE Kentucky and their arrogant, delusional fan base. I hope they lose 20 games this year and Gillispie gets canned. I would delight in that. But, no team that has 2 of its starting 5 injured, and one of its dynamic freshmen who has left the team should have an identity.

OH yeah, and my Vols beat the best team in Kentucky tonight (Western), in their first game without Sophomore post Duke Crews and with Sophomore transfer JP Prince. This team is also looking for their identity, and if they find it, watch out...

Ben Howland won his 100th game at UCLA. :)

Mizzou walked all over McNeese State or whatever. We have a game Monday against someone I don't remember then Illinois next weekend. If we don't beat Illinois this year, we will never beat them again.

Eh, we're not as bad as you think. Probably about a 50/50 shot. I'd say you have a better shot at beating us next year than this year.

Penn State beat Denver. Decent OOC record so far, but I have no faith they'll do well in the Big 10 (unless the conference is really as bad as it looks early)

Ummmm .... Kentucky? Where's Kentucky???

Of course I've seen them play and thanks for for your brilliant response. Without Jasper and Meeks has made it worse, but they still didn't have an identity when they were out there. Patterson isn't enough of an inside force yet and they don't haver enough consistent outside shooting.

I'm more frustrated defensively and the easy baskets than I am with finding an offensive identity, since that is more about effort than talent. But, I think finding a way to maximize scoring will be a bigger problem than lack of effort defensively.

We're going to have like 6 freshman on our roster next year. I think this is our last legit chance. We're not very good, but sometimes we look like a real basketball team.

How good are your freshmen next year? Is Anderson recruiting well? Next year we're pretty much the same team as this year, only take away Randle and Pruitt. I'm pretty excited early on about Tisdale and Davis, but, things will probably be a little rough. And if we get Legion, he wouldn't be eligible til after we played you.
