Thank God.

Barrett is finally going to be gone from this team. He was already in Uncle Lou's dugout, and he just punched his ticket out of town.

Hope Z knocked some sense into him.

And the only one to blame for Z's unhappiness this year is Tribune Mgt. If he would have been happy and secure with his new deal, i guarantee this probably doesnt happen. Z doesnt have the tempermant yet to handle things when they go the wrong direction. He is learning, but its a process.

Just hearing about this now. Few quick random thoughts

1. How friggin embarrassing.

2. Other GM's are probably calling Hendry right now with lowball offers for Barrett and Z.

3. Taking on Z ... wow. We all knew Barrett had stones and wasn't too bright but geez.

Cue sunny theme of yesteryear:

"It's a beautiful day for a ballgame, for a ballgame today. The Cubs are gonna pitch today, they're gonna hit today ..."

It really looks like it's all Carlos to me. Barrett stepped toward Zambrano, but he didn't really seem all that aggressive to me. It certainly didn't look like Michael was going to take a swing or anything. Z should be suspended and fined.

From that angle it looks like Barrett took a step towards Z, but you can't tell for sure if it was an agressive step like he was going to hit him, an agressive step like he was going to get into his face, or neither. Z reacted too quickly for us to find out.

And do people really worry this much about a little fighting? I'm not trying to support it and there should be some ramifications, but people tend to get passionate about sports like this. I know just playing H.S. football there were times in practice me and a guy could get into each others faces similar to that. At the end of the day we were still fine and we both were gonna do what was best for the team. Michael Jordan was a competitive S.O.B. who layed a punch right in Steve Kerr's nose during a practice. Sometimes grown men get pissed off. If we weren't so bad no one would care. If we could solve some other things that are much bigger problems on the team Zambrano and Barrett would be quite useful in helping us win, even though they both are struggling.

I don't get the trade them feelings.

agreed, he may have been about to make contact with z, but it sure wasn't going to be in any kind of aggressive fashion, certainly nothing like what zambrano did.

i think z and his awful pitching should be to blame. if this means the end of barrett, i hope the cubs have the good sense to get something worthwhile back for him.

either way, if they trade him sooner rather than later, it'll be another awesome case of hendry selling low. this team is going nowhere, and if you wait until the deadline and barrett has a hot streak or two between now and then, you can get something back from a team looking for an offensive-minded catcher. trade him now, and he's just a fighting moron who can't hit.

he put his arms up and was getting ready to shove Z. it's not like you could really charge anyone in close quarters like that, but i would say barrett instigated it.

Yeah, I've been there before. I laid out a teammate with a headbutt just to prove a point. Funny thing was, he was wearing a helmet, and I wasn't.

The point was taken, though. And we were fine again within the week.

What? What was on clear display today was the fact that Z has not grown up at all. Not one iota. These players are professional, not teenagers who want more allowance, and should be treated as such.

Z let sloppy play get to him far too much, let it affect his pitching, then chastised Barrett in the dugout like a first grader.

Barrett is not innocent here, but if Z hasn't grown up at all after 3+ full seasons in the majors, I doubt he ever will.

Screw him.

I've seen three different angles multiple times each now. Barrett didn't charge Z in any meaningful sense of the word.

Thanks.....couldnt agree more. Zambrano has acted like a jerk for years.....and the staus of his contract should have ZERO impact on his ability to pitch effectively. You want more money? Earn it. Pitch well and be a gentleman. He's pitched poorly and been a complete moron. Zambrano really needs to be introduced to a mirror.

Bwahaha. Yes, let's blame the Trib for Z sucking.

What a joke this team is.

He stepped towards him and began to raise his hands from the comcast camera angle. Either way, they're both idiots whose days on the Chicago Cubs are numbered.

Z deserves a good beating. the guy has the balls to blame his teammates? how many hits did he give up? man up and realize you suck at what you do, dont blame your catcher. hopefully he will be gone, and his psychotic breakdowns will be someone else's problems.
