This is pathetic. Carlos Zambrano is a freaking punk that needs to grow the hell up. I'm so glad that his extension wasn't given to him this offseason.

And do people really worry this much about a little fighting? I'm not trying to support it and there should be some ramifications, but people tend to get passionate about sports like this. I know just playing H.S. football there were times in practice me and a guy could get into each others faces similar to that. At the end of the day we were still fine and we both were gonna do what was best for the team. Michael Jordan was a competitive S.O.B. who layed a punch right in Steve Kerr's nose during a practice. Sometimes grown men get pissed off. If we weren't so bad no one would care. If we could solve some other things that are much bigger problems on the team Zambrano and Barrett would be quite useful in helping us win, even though they both are struggling.

I don't get the trade them feelings.

You do know that they had another fight in the clubhouse after that, right? It was more than just "a little pushing and shoving".

It really looks like it's all Carlos to me. Barrett stepped toward Zambrano, but he didn't really seem all that aggressive to me. It certainly didn't look like Michael was going to take a swing or anything. Z should be suspended and fined.

Barrett charged at Z and then Z shoved Barrett.

Lol Barret did not charge at Z. He might have stepped towards him but definatly didnt charge lol.

he put his arms up and was getting ready to shove Z. it's not like you could really charge anyone in close quarters like that, but i would say barrett instigated it.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, i haven't read past this comment yet, so i'm sure someone else has already said it, but HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH. Yeah right. Zambrano is the complete and total idiot in this entire situation. TOTAL. Even if barrett went into the clubhouse trying to attack him (which i doubt, i assume he probably went in to say something along the lines of "hey i'm sorry that play happened let's work this out later" or "hey it's all good i'm sorry i didn't make the play") zambrano is still the IDIOT who started the whole darn thing and needs to be sent away to the yankees or whoever will give us a good return ASAP. I would have never advocated trading Zambrano before the season but now I'd love to get rid of him, his bum arm, his ridiculous temper, and his empty head.

Thank God.

Barrett is finally going to be gone from this team. He was already in Uncle Lou's dugout, and he just punched his ticket out of town.

Hope Z knocked some sense into him.

And the only one to blame for Z's unhappiness this year is Tribune Mgt. If he would have been happy and secure with his new deal, i guarantee this probably doesnt happen. Z doesnt have the tempermant yet to handle things when they go the wrong direction. He is learning, but its a process.

Um, no. He isn't learning a damn thing.

Oh they did? I hadn't read that. I hope Barrett knocked some sense into Zambrano.

Next up. Anyone who thinks Zambrano is an idiot is a racist. It's all a racial thing.

Here it comes.

No, I think we've all known Z is an idiot, but wanted to give him a chance to prove he wasn't.

Well he is.

Race is a non-factor here, and I doubt anyone would make it one.

You guys are racist.

Obviously, as a member of an oppressed minority, Z was lashing out at his white overlord, and rightfully so.

racists.

Look at the angle on ESPN running during the highlights (you can see the exchange off the game page at ESPN as well).

Towards the end of the discussion, Z is clearly backing away from Barrett when Barrett says something.

I can only think that Barrett said the magic phrase or something close to it, at which point Z went after him.

Probably not the smartest place to have a discussion, but it takes 2 to tango and this was not all on Z.

The more I think about this, the more it pisses me off. How stupid is Carlos Zambrano? What the hell does he intend to achieve by mouthing Barrett and pointing at his head? This is 100% Zambrano's fault. Anyone who says that this whole incident is Barrett's fault needs to think with their brain, and not their heart.

Get rid of Zambrano. He's stupid, a head case, and no longer good at baseball. Yeah, that's probably a bit hyperbolic but I'm sick of him.

No, it's not 100% Zambrano's fault. Barrett definitely was in the wrong as well. They're both to blame.

I think everybody is saying both are at fault. But when Z snaps and started yelling that would have been the line for me if I was MB. Z basically making him look like a bitch in front of his teammates, you can damn sure bet Id up the ante and start saying or doing a little more.

Best part of it all is Sean Marshall's bigass bubble he was blowing at the time.

I couldn't take my eyes off it during the Sports Center replays.

Nah, Barrett's got some blame too. Without a doubt. It looks like Z did instigate. I'm mad at both, neither are the smartest bulbs around.

Also, I'm mad that no one went into the clubhouse if both of them were supposed to be there at the same time. Don't you think the fight might spill over?

If Zambrano actually had the ability to control his emotions and not act like a baby, this would have never happened. Zambrano came into the dugout and started mouthing Barrett, not the other way around. It's his fault.

To me the manner in which Z approached Barrett is the key to this whole thing. Pointing at his head and insulting Barrett was the most childish thing I have seen in a long, long time.

And if I were Barrett (being already frustrated, angry, defensive and not particularly bright), I wouldn't respond well to that puerile crap either.

Who touched who first here is irrelevant. None of it would have happened if Z said what he had to say in something even remotely resembling an adult manner.

Barrett responded poorly, but Z was the spark that lit the powder keg.
