  1. No, a player with little talent killing the Cubs is business as usual, not weird.Unexpected? No. Frustrating? Definitely.
  2. Cherrys injury is being described as a strain of the right lat, which would explain him getting hammered if it has been bugging him.
  3. Rotoworld has just updated the Buerhle situation. The sides have come to agreement on the financials and other perks. However, one issue is holding the extension up: a no-trade clause. Buerhle doesnt go 10-5 until mid 2010 and wants a guarantee from 2008 to mid 2010. Williams doesnt want to give it to him.
  4. Fuentes joins Righetti as the only 2 to ever blow 4 straight save opportunities. Denver is about to go the way of the Peoples Temple.
  5. where we going big guy? San Diego? Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?
  6. ESPN West Coast Edition ran the Cubbies at the top, despite Bonds going 750. They ran the highlights of one of the craziest months ever for a baseball team: June 1st- Barrett v. Z, v 1.0 June 2nd- Piniella getting kicked out (and later suspended) during a tiff with 3b Ump. June 9/10- Beanball War in Hotlanta June 16th- DLee v. CYoung June 20th- Sammy goes 600 June 23rd- Theriot Suicide Squeeze June 25th- Blowing the 6 run lead v. Colorado only to win it in the bottom half (first team since 1982 Bucs to do it) June 29th- ARam going Yard Walk-off v. Milky Man alive. That was fun.
  7. In the immortal words of Boomer: http://content.clearchannel.com/Photos/sports_photos/NFL/Rams/marshall_faulk_Elsa1.jpg http://www.moesguitars.com/Marshall-front.jpg http://www.fivestarbilliards.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/Rid5AFS-Marshall.jpg
  8. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6973136 Bradley, Barrett, Wells and Cameron on the same team. Just a matter of time and pressure til the teapot explodes.

  10. Here is some interesting hindsight: http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/sports_columnists/article/0,1299,DRMN_83_5608271,00.html So Mark Grace wanted to be a pinko commie....i mean a redbird. well well. Later on in the article, it mentions this which is kind of cool but off topic:
  11. It was Joe Simpson mostly i think. But it is patently obvious to anyone that is watching. The TV crew even showed the side by sides of his swing of the last couple of years and this season.
  12. One of the problems is the Bullpen: 9th in the NL with a 4.11. 9-17 record is the worst in the bigs. Walks are killing us. Also, have a 63% save percentage. That wont get it done either.
  13. Is TT the new Alex Gonzalez? Wonder if they will pull razorblades off the shelves at the grocery store. its getting pretty tough for the Purple.
  14. Marmol is going nowhere. Hendry would have to enter Witness Protection if he schloughed him off somewhere. The other day was the perfect example of why Marmol is so effective. 4 seamer strike one 93mph. 2 seamer strike two 95 MPH. Slider 83 mph have a seat mr. tulowitzki, who looked baffled. Next batter- slider 85 strike one. 4 seamer 94 mph strike two. Oh you think my slider is my out pitch? Well here is a 2 seamer 96MPH. Now you can have a seat Mr. Torrealba. 2 straight ML batters looking absolutely foolish buckling at the plate looking for something. Marmol is untouchable because of the sideways movement on his pitches, the speed, the ability to pitch on both sides of the plate and the change in velocity. There is little wonder why his ERA is 1.29. I wouldnt even trade Marmol straight up for Hernandez.
  15. interesting. i havent watched them this week, only the discussion they were having about it last weekend. wonder what Bobby is doing.
  16. Arod Miggy Prince Russell Martin Curtis Granderson
  17. Seriously. We need to come together as a community, take a vote, and then start banning people for using Hawkisms. It perpetuates a stereotype and myth that we simply do not need on this board or need to accept as Cub fans. He is an awful awful baseball announcer and has no place on this board.
  18. Dear Cubs- This is a talented rookie. There is no reason to phone it in against him. So please dont let him shut you out. Thank You. Geaux Cubbies
  19. They know what his problem is- He is pulling off and stepping into the bucket. The Braves announcers, coaching staff, and Bobby Cox have all tried to talk to him about it, but he refuses to listen to anyone. So Cox has dropped him to the 7th spot in the lineup and wont return him higher into the order until he gets his "act" together.
  20. 98 MPH on the Wrigley Speed gun isnt too shabby. 1 BB and 2 Ks in his debut. Really like the whole challenging the hitter concept. Several others down in the pen should take a little notice. Was a laser beam that got hit out. No shame in that at all.
  21. Baylor and CP together again. a ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
  22. Hey Carlos- This guy came up as a member of the Astros. And you know what you like to do to Astros pitchers. Hammer him Z, v 2.0! Geaux Cubbies.
  23. I went to the DH back in 1994(?) on July 4th weekend Rockies at Cubs. Started at 12:05pm. Ended at 1:15 am. 3 7th Inning Stretches. 3 Rain delays. 25 people left in the stands. Mark Grace telling me and 5 others "crowded" over behind the dugout we needed professional help for staying (at least we are getting paid for this [expletive], he said)....priceless. Great great day.
  24. Cubs win. Good going guys. Saw Peter Coors up behind Sutcliffe doing the 7th inning stretch. Wonder why he was in the Cubs TV booth.
