The game will be on CSN+ which is also CLTV on many local Chicago cable packages (it should be Channel 31 for you, Roast!).

Sean Marshall

3-1, 4.26 ERA

vs.

Ricky Nolasco

2-1, 3.43 ERA

If they scored 7 runs two games in a row, it would be like Christmas in May.

Go CUBS !!

Posted

Oh crap. I was worried this was Nolasco's debut. Fortunately (knowing the Cubs luck with these things), it is not.

Just his second start. And for the record, he's never thrown over 79 pitches, and after that his next closest appearance is 47.

His first start was 3.2 IP, 5 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 3 Ks.

Lefties seem to feast on him with a .346/.406/.538 line, but that might just be sample size, he hasn't thrown that many innings.

My faith is back. This could be the start of a long streak and then consistent winning.

Noteworthy Match-ups (Chicago Cubs) Vs. Ricky Nolasco (2-1 with a 3.43 ERA)

Never faced em.

Noteworthy Match-ups (Florida Marlins) Vs. Sean Marshall (3-1, with a 4.26 ERA)

TT: Isn't Rusch technically still in the bullpen?

Also, how much better is that is that bullpen than three years ago? Man. Talk about a difference.

Let's hope this doesn't get Uggla.

I guess, although he's in line for the next start(especially if Wood can't go), and I'm going to lose my mind thinking that we have an 8 man bullpen again.

Worthless stats of the day for Monday........

CUBS are 4-1 on Mondays

CUBS are 6-1 when they hit at least 2 home runs.... 12-24 when they don't

CUBS are 9-3 when the opponent commits at least 2 errors.... 9-22 when they don't

Those are 3 very key stats into how this next offseason could go. I see Hendry trying to sign guys who may K a LOT, but should give him the expectation of 2 HRs (total) for the game. And by gosh, they're gonna be great defenders. We'll sign all the defensive gurus! Make the other team commit errors by default.

Oh yeah, and lobby Selig that we only have games on Monday.

I'm just excited I got my name in the first post of this thread!

:-D I feel so special.

In other news, I see this as a really pivitol series. I think After barretts AJ-beatdown and then the come from behind win today, we have a chance to pick up some momentum. The marlins arent pushovers, but they aren't exactley the creme de la creme. I see this as a series in which we could pick up a little steam, and possibly *GASP* start winning games.

Barrett will likely appeal his suspension, so it may take close to a week before he actually serves that suspension. If that is the case, then Lee will be pretty close to coming back when Barrett finally does go down. In which case we wont be totally offensivley hopeless for to long..

*sigh*...i just want us to not suck

If he was a Cub, yes. But since he isn't he will go on to a multiple Cy Young career.

Marshall and Nolasco have been a part of the same rotation before, haven't they? Interesting matchup.

Len said they were both in West Tenn last year, so yes.

And that's why I'm worried about Wood. I just feel that if we keep him, he'll continue to have arm issues and the Cubs will have wasted money but if we let him go then all of a sudden his arm problems will stop and he'll win a Cy or two.

that is an excellent photo of nolasco in the game thread starter. absolutely top-notch.

oh c'mon there will be 400 posts in this thread by the time the game's over, what difference does one throwaway post like this make.

ok i think the cubs will pummel the fish, even with dusty, the cubs might be actually better... fish and pirates, fish and pirates, fish and pirates, if the cubs schedule were made up solely of these... then the cubs might get a parade and we might all dance around as ignorant drunken fools... were it only so...

Didn't we lose a series to the Pirates? Left-handed starters kill us!

more fish! put those devil rays on that interleague schedule. just pirates and fish, the cubs still end up in first. i think that exhausts all possibilities the cubs are better than tho. altho i KNOW the cubbies are trying to win, are professional, and indeed will have some great games ahead. which i will personally enjoy, as will we all.
