a couple of good things from tonight...

aram with another homer and pierre w/ 2 hits. would be really nice to see the biggest slumpers finally get going. both have killed this team.

good to see wood's scheduled for tomorrow. still a shot @ 2 out of 3.

and just think, Dusty is going to get an extension on top of a blowout loss to the worst team in the NL!

How can we lose to ourselves?

Silver lining: As long as the Cubs continue to play worse then the "Benchwarmers" (Heder/Schneider/Spade), then Hendry has to keep Baker's "extension" in his back pocket. And if the Cubs play bad long enough, then Hendry can not ever justify giving Baker and extension.

I really don't know if performance or fan reaction matters one bit in terms of Dusty getting his extension.

Maybe...but Hendry knows he would be BURNED AT THE STAKE by the media if he even tried to give Baker an extension.

Marlins 9 Cubs 1?

Damn you Paul Sullivan!!!!!

P.S. Think the Marlins would do a straight-up organizational trade with the Cubs? Right now? I mean like before tomorrow's game?

You stand in the line just to hit a new low

You're faking a smile with the coffee you go

You tell me your life's been way off line

You're falling to pieces every time

And I don't need no carryin' on

Because you had a bad day

You're taking one down

You sing a sad song just to turn it around

You say you don't know

You tell me don't lie

You work at a smile and you go for a ride

You had a bad day

The camera don't lie

You're coming back down and you really don't mind

You had a bad day

You had a bad day

God, I loathe that song. If I could choose between Lee being magically healed this instant or punching the singer in the nards, I'd have to sit down and REALLY think about it.

And THEN punch the guy in the nards.

People find things to do besides watching the games when the team stinks.

More competence in the Minor Leagues

Just got home from the game. I don't know who to feel more sorry for, the Cubs and their pathetic-ness, or the Marlins because there were more Cubs fans there than Marlins fans.

Just to rub it in, the A's blow a chance to win the game in the 10th (Thomas popout with 1st and 3rd 1 out) with the Sox winning on a squeeze bunt in the bottom of the inning.

The Cubs are the worst team in baseball, with their two biggest rivals among the best 4.

I thought the end of 2005 was a low point, but this is 50 feet of crap below that.

The only thing that could be worse is if the Giants joined the Cards and White Sox as one of the top teams in the league. The LAST thing I want is for Bonds to get a World Series title.

Theres still hope for the A's to win the whole thing or something.

That would pretty much be the only team I could stand to win it. I don't want to see the Yanks, Red or White Sox, Cardinals, or Giants (not that they have a shot) win it.
