Almost half way to Caleb's 2025 INT total after 1 game

Yeah I never understood the hype of Drake Maye. New England was probably one of the weakest super bowl teams. Benefitting from a cake schedule until the SB last year. 

If Caleb made that throw at the end when at worst you are going to OT the pitch forks across the NFL would be out

Did you not read the box score., he completed 70% his throws. How can you not be impressed?

Of course there would be a huge uproar, if Maye was anything but white he'd be horsefeathers upon.  Given that racism is a feature of this country it'd shouldn't be a surprise it's a part of professional sports.  Still the ignorance and utter stupidity of racism pisses me off everywhere.

It's true, apparently completion percentage is all that matters. It doesn't matter if they're all 5 yard check downs. Completion percentage is everything.

Maye had a 9.5 AYA last year so that clearly wasnt the case at least for 2025. But I mean the Seahawks defense is really great also.

Yes, but again, it was against a historically weak SOS. Patriot opponents combined for a .391 winning percentage in 2025, that was the 3rd easiest schedule in the NFL over the last 50 seasons.

drake maye was legitimately great last season but the seahawks proved pretty definitively in the super bowl if you put him under pressure he cracks a bit

but that's true of most (every?) qb

I don't believe Maye is as special as everyone touts, though one thing, I guess, in his defense, is he doesn't have an exactly stellar or good receiving group.  AJ Brown, 29, coming off a down year in receiving yardage and Romeo Doubs are their big additions to the WR room.

He was legitimately great against a very weak schedule. I would say he is good, to even very good, but I would still take Caleb over him. To me, he is more of a guy you can win with, not so much a guy you win because of him.  I think Caleb is a guy who you win because you have him.

Do we know the Bears can win because of Caleb? They went 11-6 with the point differential of a 9-8 team while leading the league with a +22 turnover margin (only four other teams were even +10). Like would we be saying that if the Bears went 8-9 and missed the playoffs last year like they probably should have?

We're going to learn a lot this year. I think Bears fans were maybe a little high on Caleb's performance last year (very good, excellent when it mattered) but he still had a lot to clean up. We'll find out a bunch this year if he can put it all together.

They went 11-6 and had a positive point differential despite the defense giving up the 4th most yards per game and 10th most points per game. Imagine what Caleb could do with the Patriot defense which gave up the 8th fewest yards per game and 4th fewest points per game.

Historically great based on what exactly?

He led the league in INT% (behind Penix but he only played 9 games) and his season was 33rd all time. In 2024 he was third in the league.

He fumbled 9 times, which was more than Hurts, Maye, Allen, Herbert, Lawrence and Dart despite those four all having more rushing attempts than him. All four of those guys got sacked more than Caleb as well. Best I can tell, the Bears fumbled 13 times but only lost 4 of them.

Meanwhile they lead the league with 23 interceptions despite not being the best defensive team.

Don't want to make it seem like Williams sucks. He may very well turn into a superstar. I just don't think we know that Caleb is a guy you win because of while Maye isn't (though it's certainly possible that sentiment turns out to be correct).
