Assuming we’re locked in to WC1 or WC2, who would we rather play between Atl or Phi?

Obviously the ideal scenario is those two teams go down to the wire for the division and have to burn some pitchers.

i'd like to avoid the sanchez/wheeler/luzardo trio

also, damn we missed out by backing out of that luzardo trade

Def Braves. Sanchez/Sale is a wash. but the Braves don't have anyone that compares to Wheeler/Luzardo

I’d prioritize being at home.  Neither of those teams are great matchups since their starters are superior to ours.

I feel like our offense has hit good pitching really well. Their starters will be better than ours but I think we still have a shot with this offense on the road or at home.

Why is it a given we backed out on Luzardo? People love to make up their own narrative, especially if it makes Jed look bad.

that wasn't a shot at Jed at all, I thought it was reported by someone reputable that the cubs backed out after medicals

Cubs faced Luzardo twice and he gave up 9 runs in 10+ innings. Sanchez also faced the Cubs twice going 11+ innings and giving up 8 runs. Wheeler didn’t face the Cubs this year, however in August he has an era over 6. OPS over .800 against him this month.  Slug almost .500. It is really tiring hearing how good the Phillies are and how terrible the Cubs are. Maybe those guys do shut us down. But honestly they aren’t anything the Cubs can’t handle and they have handled them.

I didn't say anything like that, I just said that he's good and it would have worked out well for the cubs if they didn't back out

MLB insider Ken Rosenthal reported Friday that the Cubs and Miami Marlins agreed on a Luzardo trade ahead of the new year. However, the Cubs backed out, citing concerns over Luzardo's back and elbow.

That allowed the Phillies, fresh off their first NL East crown since 2011, to swoop in and add the 27-year-old lefty only days before Christmas.
