EDIT: Over the entire Justin Fields era, the Bears only won one game by over 20 points.

Guys I don't know what to do with myself to fully appreciate what we have here.  My entire life I've been going through the QB carousel, watching stupid JT O'Sullivan breakdowns, making excuses for why our latest QB of the future doesn't have what he needs to succeed, etc etc.  My entire life we've at best had coaches who don't make things worse, but rarely coaches who make things better.  We have some gaping holes defensively, by no means are we are perfect team, but we have something very special and I just don't think I am appreciating it enough. It just feels so weird after all the struggle to be pretty damn convinced that we have the coach and the QB.  

We are starting to look like the team other fanbases envy because we have that sexy cool coach who makes offense look easy and the QB who is so in lock step with said sexy coach that he almost starts sounding like him.  Our boy looked in full command of the offense today, I don't remember any truly terrible decisions and only a couple of throws that could be considered inaccurate.  He was comfortable and composed and confident in his ability to throw to any of his guys.  It's just incredible and hard to believe.  If only our defense could be even average (and while disappointing, 2 of our best players on defense today were rookies playing in their first game which is encouraging)

Loveland didn’t show up in the box score but the Panthers defense pretty much ignored Raymond in the slot just to limit Loveland.

Has a score ever ended 59-37 before yesterday?

The only bad decision was the pick 6 in the redzone by a d lineman who dropped into coverage that was negated by a penalty. Not a fan of going for it on your own 21 early in the game either. Asked about it after the game, Ben said he still liked the call. Overall, an incredible offensive outpouring - probably the best I’ve ever seen by a Bears team. The Bears have the playcaller, the QB, the skill position players, the running game, and the line. Going to be a fun year!

The redzone interception that was negated by an offsides penalty. He used the wrong term.

I set up 8 tv's in my man cave  before Sunday, then got invited to a Bears party for week 1. At halftime, the electricity went out for the rest of the day while everyone at the party huddled around cell phones broadcasting without wifi. Not the best way to enjoy a Bears victory, but the food was great, the buzz was great and the company was great. 

It looked like a preseason game for the defense, so hopefully they get a little more dialed in next week. Don't expect them to be a top defense, but definitely better than yesterday.

I love Ben, but there is no defending going for it at your own 20. Even if you get the first down, you are still 75+ yards from the end zone and a long way from a Cairo kick. Don't put that much pressure on the defense to do their jobs. They already have their hands full with so few play makers.

Who knew the Bears were going to score again when the score was 52-37?  Carolina defense was gassed and done.  Didn't expect the next score so quickly, you could sense the Bears were just going to methodically move down the field on the ground.

Trying to take away some positives on defense the Bears did generate some pressure on Young.  Young' quite a bit more allusive than Wentz.  Bears may be able to get to Wentz.

I'm gonna paint a rosy picture of the defense.  I'm gonna make some excuses, and point out that maybe they weren't as bad as the score appears.

1) They got 2 takeaways.  Can't give the banana ball muffed punt to the D, but still...we were told that we couldn't count on that.

2) They were handed 2 short fields that led to scores.  I know that's gonna happen and they still need to make stops, but...it definitely put them in a couple of bad spots.

3) The bombs down the sidelines did the most damage.  The corners are gonna have to figure some stuff out.  I'm not sure you can do much about Stevenson, but Johnson got burned, and should've been better.  But I think the D-line and the safeties were actually pretty strong.


I think there's enough to work with here.  It's not going to be the Seahawks D or anything, but I think they can improve, and if the offense can keep balling out, I think the defense can be "good enough".

I feel like one thing they were awful at yesterday, tackling, is pretty fixable with more reps.  Guys play so little in preseason that wrapping up runners going full speed is an adjustment and I can't imagine that continues to be as big of an issue as it was yesterday.  The rest, I'm not so optimistic about.
