Gausman officially a cubs pitcher now, adding to the HR given up total

Isn’t that his strength? (Not giving up HRs)

Yes and no.

Gausman is like, Shota on steroids in many ways. He's fastball-splitter, and instead of a sweeper throws a slider. He gives up a lot of fly balls, and because of that will give up his fair share of home runs. However, he's better than league average when it comes to how many flyballs turn into home runs. So it kind of evens itself out in that sense.

Ok, that's a tough one.  When things aren't going your way...

he should've challenged the first strike that was 2" above the zone

Knew that horsefeathers was gonna happen. 3 ball count and desperate for something good to happen. Figured he’d take it no matter what

Happ's last 50 ABs have been downright awful.  21 strikeouts, sub .118 batting average.  There is no reason for him to be getting meaningful ABs anymore.

Happ has been really hesitant to challenge pitches all year.  And especially now, his confidence in the strike zone is probably extremely low.

Didn't he foul off more than 1 pitch?

I really like the rotation now . They need to stay away from Zeferjahn tonight . He had pitched 3 of 4 before getting the day off yesterday

Wow been awhile since I didn't feel stressed out watching a starter pitching in the 7th inning 😅

Usually thinking Counsell making a mistake trying to squeeze another inning in there with a starter
