George Kirby was in fact not scratched. Pitching now. So if something is up with Hartshorn getting pulled, it’s not for Kirby it doesn’t appear. I’m kind of out of players it could be for other than mayyyyybeeee something involving Mason Miller

I am by no means a scout.  But when I saw him last week anytime the ball was hit to him he was baaad. Like worse than Castellanos bad.

Well he is just 19, extremely athletic, and I would bet he spent more time focused on pitching than fielding in HS. Get him some coaching, let him spend a couple summers and off seasons with PCA and he could be a Gold Glover out there. We know he has a plus plus arm. Look at Happ. He wasn’t an outfielder until he came to Chicago.

Ian Happ played tons of corner OF at Cincinnati. 42 of his 54 total games in his last season were in RF alone.

Maybe I was confused about that. I could have sworn he was drafted specifically as a 2B

He may have been announced as a 2b, I really can't remember. But yeah he played a ton of OF in college.

That would be interesting.

If Hartshorn is dealt, I would anticipate it would be someone like Webb who wasn't thought to be "available"

Could it be Logan Webb for Hartshorn ?

That’s another name that he could potentially go for . With that said there hasn’t been a mention of Webb been available .  It’s been reported he isn’t .

Guys who are questionable if they are available - Hunter Greene and outside the box long shot here, what does a DeGrom package look like? Rosenthal reported earlier they might sell DeGrom/Seager depending on how their game goes today (Seems wild, but sounds like some pressure from ownership side to unload their contracts before the lockout combined with losing 4 of their last 5 series).

Yeah I just looked. Drafted as a 2B. Some rando named Cornelius Randolph was drafted right after him.

Same could be said about Hartshorn.

World class speed and instincts isn't contagious. Former Japanese gold glover Seiya has been standing next to PCA for 2+ seasons and he didn't start looking better on defense until this season. I'm not saying Hartshorn can't improve, he is only 19. But the defensive concerns are real. He legitimately looks like he's never played in the OF before. I would make sure he can catch a routine fly ball before crowning him with a gold glove.

as cool as it is to see PCA walk three times a game (and I realize the cubs need soooo much pitching), it would be very nice to add another offensive superstar to this lineup. a lineup of PCA and a bunch of guys that are technically above league average but all by like 7% is a slight bummer, especially if PCA does this every season.

That is when the Trout comps will be complete.

Breaking news: Tigers looking to trade Tarik Skubal. Dodgers are a team showing strong interest.

Just under 25 hours until the trade deadline, zero total Hoyer moves of any consequence.

Like with most of his transactions,  waiting to see who he can get for the least.

I think he will do something of significance this year.
