I think that once the west coast games are over we will hear about a Cubs trade. Maybe Detmers, maybe Soriano, maybe Webb or even Miller. But I think something will happen today.
Of course I have probably said this sort of thing every year.

Hoyer safe til end of his contract, which if it was 5 years will be til end of 2030 season.

Rained in the 8th after he was pulled. 

Hartshorn was pulled but teams rarely use defensive subs in the MiLB. It's learning. Not winning, that matters.

Why? I'll admit, they wouldn't be the most exciting on the surface, but Rogers has been worth almost 6 wins his last 200 IP. He's probably an upgrade over Rea on the back end. Garcia is a whiff monster. 

And I'd assume that's your 2nd and 3rd best pitcher acquired. Add in a really fun name at the top? You're probably in a decent place.

The Dodgers are smart, but the super smart Brewers can't go out and drop 700m to get the greatest player of all-time plus anyone else available  they fancy.   They can't line their rotation with 5 Cy Young-caliber SP's and get more if some get hurt plus grab a bunch of HOF/elite caliber hiters whenever they want.  It's a joke.

The greater LA area is almost as large as the greater NYC area, almost 20m people, and almost twice as big as the greater Chicago population.  So LA is among the top 2 US markets by a very large margin, plus being able to buy Ohtani and Yamamoto etc means their market extends to Japan's 120m people.

Yes it also takes smarts and some luck, the Mets/Angels prove that, but not every team can dominate like those markets allow.  The Brewers have never won 100 games in a season ever.  The Dodgers have done it 6 of the last 9 years if you count 2020 and on pace for 7 of 10 this season  The Brewers have also never won a ring.
