Ehhh...

I know how much Happ is loved here But...

18 for last 92  34 Ks is not good

If you expand that out just two plate appearances he has a 104 wRC+. Is that amazing? No. But it's 4% better than average. If you expand it to his last 122 PA's he has a 128 wRC+, which is 10% better than his career average.

Arbitrary end points can create whatever argument you want them to.

Maybe, but I thought that should have been a triple.

It was close.  I thought he was going, too.

Did Happ seriously take three straight strikes???

Oh, and then challenged the last pitch with a 3-2 count when he clearly missed the 3-0 ball lol. That was fun to watch

The ABS challenge system is actually brilliant. Instead of ripping on the umpires for getting it wrong the blame now goes to the players for not challenging obvious balls and challenging strikes. Case in point Happ didn’t challenge ball 4 that was well out of the zone and challenged strike 3 which was a strike killing a Cubs rally

It 92 AB, well 93 now

Eventually you all just have to admit the guy having a bad season getting hits and striking out on a very high pace.

Who has debated his k-rate is elevated? But since when is posting a wRC+ over your career averae a "bad season"? His career wRC+ is 117 and he's got a 121 on the year. Regale me.

Solid performance from Shota to get six tonight. He kept the ball on the ground, gave up a few more hits than normal, but still generated a good amount of whiff. Cubs bullpen really needed someone to clear innings tonight.

9 ground balls and no home runs allowed with the wind blowing out. I believe this is a direct result on the adjustment they made . More pitches away both with the fastball and splitter

Never seen Shota give up so many non HR hits

Really good grouping on the split finger. And he kept the fastball generally up in unhittable spots.
