We're also at the start of a ludicrously rough heat wave, so don't be surprised to see guys taken out due to dehydration and cramps throughout this series.

I know it's a getaway day, but Wednesday is supposedly going to be the hottest day of the heat wave, and after last year's Bataan Death March Game against Seattle, I wouldn't be surprised if MLB announced a delayed start to that one.

Based on that bullpen usage chart, I think @Bertz's idea of a Shota/Assad piggyback looks like a really good plan.  Get 5 from Shota and let Assad finish to essentially get the pen a reset day, especially if sending Roberts down won't make a difference because of the 10 day window guys have to be in Iowa before they can come back up, which is an unknown for me at this point.

Yeah and Cubs have an off day Thursday and SD doesnt play in LA until late Thursday

You just get the feeling we're going to end up with Pomeranz-Hendriks-Wicks as our 7-8-9 come September, and we'll all feel oddly okay with it.

Padres bullpen isn't in great shape either. It's probably less abused than ours, but multiple guys have gone 20+ last two days. I think they need innings from him. 

Factor in the brutal heat about to be faced and there are four or five guys on there that could *really* use the day off.
