There's not any sort of "under the hood he's been good actually" or "one weird trick to fix him", but I've generally like Eric Lauer in the past.  With his DFA he'd be a guy I'd be pretty into buying low on assuming we could get him to Iowa.

Speaking of DFA'd guys I'd absolutely love to have, please please make room for Alek Thomas in Iowa

Aside from him being a local kid, I don’t see the attraction to him. Carrier OPS+ of 75. I guess he is a good outfielder, but he hasn’t proved he can hit.

Mooney and Sharma put out an article of potential trade targets. Usual suspects but I thought it was funny Mike Soroka was on the list.

Won’t be funny when he’s back!

If Clay Holmes was a target for the Cubs (slim as it might be), cross him off. Broke his fibula taking a line drive off the bat of Spencer Jones and is out for awhile.

On the plus side, this move helps ensure the Mets will be sellers and Holmes will have a fresh arm.

Was thinking the same. Makes it easier to move Peralta also

Bieber cost a pitcher almost at Wiggins level last year. So, if Wiggins’s comes back healthy, IMO, Peralta will cost at least him+. But if they get Peralta and he eventually stays here long term, I am okay with it.

This is Jed’s shot to go all in with Happ, Suzuki and 3 starting pitchers off the books next season. If the Mets need corner outfield help then moving Alcantara will be easier to package with Wiggins. It’ll leave a future hole in the rotation but Hortons lack of availability leaves a hole in the rotation and Wiggins doesn’t have a track record of health either.

The ML roster for PPs is set for the future outside of corner outfielders and if they haven’t traded Shaw yet as a blocked player then I’d guess they view his bat as good enough to handle the outfield in 2027+. Trading him weakens a team that’s trying to win now.

If Wiggins is a good enough headliner to get a TORP, I’d do it in a heartbeat. Love Wiggins upside, but I’m afraid there’s always going to be some type of injury that constantly brings him back down.

This is going to be the story with most SP prospects. I'm not saying do or do not trade Wiggins, but we should probably expect any SP prospect who hits 97-100mph to be a massive injury risk.

I dont know if we can afford to trade Wiggins with how the pitching looks for 2027 on. Not opposed to trading him but has to be for the right pitcher.

He has come out of 2 games with some sort of discomfort. IMO, only a matter of time until he is hurt and will miss substantial time.

I don't want to trade Wiggins for. rental. If he's in a package for Joe Ryan/Logan Webb, by all means

Ryan or Webb do make a lot of sense. At least they aren’t rentals. But if the Cubs could get Peralta I would trade Wiggins for him. Gives them a chance to at least let him experience Wrigley and the Cubs and maybe give them a leg up on signing him. Counsell should help as well as him seeing a great defense behind him.

Old friend Brennan Davis is tearing up triple aaa with a minor league option remaining . If someone offers him a roster spot the Mariners can either promote him or let him walk per his current deal. August 1st opt out as well.

His arm will fall off, probably soon

We should probably see if Wiggins can pitch at all decently in AAA before we worry about his value to us or some other team. I’m not imagining the 5+ BB/9 rate right?
